Good morning everyone I have experienced discrimination for the first time in many years. I am a retired military and a retired police officer in the state of Virginia and I have never experienced discrimination like this in a restaurant before until yesterday. On the 30th of May 2025 at 1815 I entered the establishment of Lobscouser Restaurant. The restaurant was extremely busy. Me and my fiancé enter this establishment and immediately my fiancé wanted to leave because of the older lady at the front. Maybe it was women intuition or she just knew there was something not right about this lady. I told her no they are just busy let’s give them sometime. The older lady asked if we had reservations because we would not be able to be seated until 7pm. We did not have reservations but we decided to wait because of the good reviews and the positive things we heard about this restaurant. As we waited the older lady walked by us about 5 times not making eye contact and completely ignoring us. As other customers entered, they were greeted, and seated. Clearly, if she could have put a ‘Whites Only’ sign out front, she would have done so. How sad that we are still in an era that our ancestors fought so hard to end. We have grandchildren, who,if people’s hearts and minds don’t change, will have the same experiences. Everyone, we can and must do better.
The head lady she's very prejudiced the food is good but she is not a good look for front door establishment
Very nice service. Soups are good good food period
Great food! AMAZING PRICES (Specials before 6:30 pm on weekdays for $10!) High-backed booths too. Check it out! My first time and I’ll be back.
This is a hidden gem on High street! It's a small intimate place that serves great food. He-crab soup a must eat and the crab ball appetizer.

Things have really changed since the last time I was there. The price was ok I did have shrimp and crab cakes for $12 but it also tasted like it. Probably won't return, ended up with heartburn ?

We love Lobscouser and try to come once or twice a week. The food is always great and desserts are special! I have tried so many food items and never had one I didn’t like. Family-owned and operated - they are very friendly and pleasant to be around. Great service. Very affordable. Beautifully decorated for various holidays and seasons. Always an enjoyable experience. I enjoy going to Lobscouser more than any other local restaurant.

If I could give all "0" stars, I certainly would. I've always heard good things about them. Today was my very first time visiting. The hostess (old lady) stared at me from the time that I walked into the door...and even while I was sitting and waiting for my food to arrive. Her energy screamed that I didn't belong or wasn't welcome there. The waitress brought my drink and hushpuppies. The old lady was still staring. A few minutes in, the waitress brings a dried, skinny piece of salmon, half of a baked potato, and broccoli. When I informed the old lady that I didn't want my order, she shook her head, walked to the table and looked at it, asked me what was wrong with it. When I told her that I go to seafood restaurants all the time and that I wasn't pleased with my food, she told me that there was nothing wrong with it and to not come back. I told her, "No problem. I won't, and that this is very poor customer service." I left because it was evident that she's prejudiced and she really didn't want me there in the first place because I don't look like her and everyone else there. I just thank God for what He didn't allow...there are many tables at which I'm welcome. So, I don't have to tolerate ignorance.

Our meal was alright. Ingredients weren’t fresh. Ordered rare prime rib and it was cooked well done. It wasn’t prime rib, it was a normal grilled ribeye. Coconut shrimp were delicious.
Service was great. The food was lackluster at best.

We dine here very often. We love it! Excellent food, filling and the service is wonderful. Prices vary however they have an Early bird dinner with portions that are just enough for seniors. My husband loves the He Crab soup. It's a spicy crab chili. You must try it! Complimentary homemade hushpuppies with each meal are very tasty. Thank you for keeping your food very tasty and the prices within our limits.
