I’ll never forget the horrible experience I had I asked for two types of Custard meaning I wanted them separate bowls, but I guess it was misunderstood that I wanted two flavors in one I explained to them and asked to redo they would not then the owner came over and said people like me need to learn from my mistakes and take accountability and refused to refund me or make me a new one… after reading these reviews clearly isn’t an isolated incident.

This place caught my eye today when we were in Portsmouth. The old school diner atmosphere with the porch swing was very welcoming and Kylie was delightful with her service. She recommended which concrete was her favorite and the BBQ sandwich and omg, Cookout wishes their BBQ sandwich was this good. My daughter loved her cherry dipped custard cone and the banana pudding concrete was phenomenal. 100% would recommend.

Custard was really creamy...Yumm. Delicious pulled pork sandwich and service was fast and they were pleasant.
The N.C. Bar-B-Q sandwiches are wonderful . Can't beat the price, either. $2.99 each. Generous amount BBQ on every sandwich. Drive thru or walk up to window service only.
I’ve been enjoying their custard for many years, but this Sunday afternoon I made a special trip from out of town and it was not as good as past visits, when I took the top off the Sunday there were barely three spoonfuls of custard in it. I understand everyone is downsizing but I expected to have a full cup of custard. Very disappointing! I won’t be going back. (Pictures are BEFORE I ate any.)

I've been here on several different occasions and it's been really good every time.I recommend the "ChocoRoco" concrete but with pecans instead of almonds,the hot fudge sundae or the chocolate butterfinger milkshake . They have a great menu, plenty of different things to choose from and prices are not bad. I highly recommend trying this place.
