Nice place for a date night. It's a little expensive just to be hanging out though at the bar. Spent 81 dollars on 2 drinks and an appetizer.

Enjoyed a Sunday afternoon family dinner. Some of our selections were Shrimp Basket w/fries and slaw, Homestyle Fried Chicken w/mashed potatoes, collard greens or Jasmine rice or Sweet Potatoes Mashed. Deliciously served and attended to by a great waitress. ?

If only I could give them negative 5 stars, I would. By far the worst shrimp and grits on earth. Kids wouldnt touch the waffles, the Mac and cheese was awful and they added 18% gratuity for our bill without telling us because we have 6 people, when technically we have 3 adults and 3 kids. Stay far far away, this place has fallen off a cliff.

First, let me say that, as a 42 year old woman, I have been a patron of Roger Browns for years. So, even though I recently have had bad experiences at the restaurant since the passing of Mr. Brown, I still went and dined at the restaurant several times before my last visit when my family decided unanimously that we would never return. The restaurant has changed and not for good. The last 3 visits to the restaurant were horrible. The shrimp and grits dish was absolutely horrible in taste, and nothing like the dish I have had there for years and years. My husband’s chicken wings were not cooked through and borderline still clucking. (Exaggerating, but they were bad) . My mom’s catfish was not good and the macaroni and cheese was horrible. Bland, no taste whatsoever. It literally tasted like boiled noodles and I throw some shredded cheese on top and wallah! Now you have Mac and cheese. The service was slow, which it has been for some time, but when the food was good, we were not bothered by this. And the topper was being told that they now add gratuity to your check, a restaurant I have been a patron of for YEARS and ALWAYS tipped fairly, all these years later, nowDecides that I will be forced to tip, whether the food/service is good or not. Sad to say will never be going back and would not advise anyone from Portsmouth or any of the other 7 cities to eat here. It has changed and it isn’t good anymore.

First and last time here. I ordered the crab dip for an appetizer and there were maybe two pieces of crab meat inside. (Don’t let the looks deceive you) I feel like I wasted my $15. I also ordered the fried chicken breast, mashed potatoes and collard greens. The greens were really bland, overly cooked and came out luke -warm. The mash and chicken were okay. Overall, it’s a no for me.My man ordered a burger with a crab ball on top and he enjoyed it.I must add despite the lack of taste in the food I received , the people who were there were friendly and welcoming. Our waitress was prompt, kind, and easy to talk to.

My wife and I came in for drinks that we never received because the bartender was simply to slow. Due to our frustration we left and went to Gosport Tavern on High St.Better chose.

Happy Easter,The service was non-existent. We had to ask for and find utensils, napkins, saucers, salt and pepper. Our family of seven weren't able to eat together because we were served at differing times. As we were leaving the "server?" said she was "sorry for the hiccups"? Are you kidding me. Serving 101, put utensils on the table. If you count 7 people, they're going to need 7 sets of utensils. Bring the food prepared well and collectively. If you're bringing an appetizer, the saucers should come with it! My family is very nice. They never want to cause a scene. But, you need to know that your service needs upgrades. Do better.

Food was subpar. Service staff is good. The wait for food can sometimes take long. But the space is laid back and peaceful and entertainment is nice so you will actually not mind the wait too much unless you on a timeline. Roger Brown's is a chill spot.

I was pleasantly surprised with the vibe of RB's tonight. It was a full crowd of mature people. All was calm , respectful and mature. We will definitely be coming back with friends. Good experience!!

Good food and service. Only complaint, the caesar salad was salty, too much dressing.
