A distillery with a unique history that you can learn about on the distillery tour. Point of advice, though: eat before coming here. Whiskeys were good, but slightly one-note. Perhaps it was just the day I visited, but my experience was diminished by an off-putting sewage smell. Still, worth a visit.

A unique, historic setting, with friendly and knowledgeable staff. We love the cocktail flight, which changes monthly. It's super tasty, with interesting, creative mixes and fun names. The last two times we've been in, Maria helped us and we had such a great time!! Will definitely be back.

Unique drinks, unique experience. 6/5 stars. Would whiskey again. Also, whoever creates these drinks... they are not paying them enough.

I was gifted a bottle of Catoctin Creek’s rye whiskey a couple years ago. I have loved the bottle myself, and it has been a favorite of those I share a glass.I had the opportunity to visit the distillery a couple weeks ago, and had a fun, but interesting experience. When my friend and I showed up, we were sat, and also notified that the tour we signed up for may not be a tour they were offering. We were a bit confused since we signed up on the website before arriving, but we’re pretty good with the flow people and was okay with whatever was offered in terms of a tour.Their distillery is small, and this translates to the tour experience. It’s short and straight to the point of the facts of their distilling process. The tour itself was slightly awkward, but there were factors outside of the distillery’s control that contributed to this. We were also reminded during the tour and after the tour, that the tour itself was free. We were provided with the fact that the distillery was woman-owned, which made me even happier to continue to support such a quality local product. After the brief tour, you are sat back at the bar or sitting area for your flight tasting. There was some slight confusion on the flight considering the flight was pre-purchased online prior to the tour. The flight tasting experience we received was interesting. Our tour guide was very friendly and spoke with my friend and I almost exclusively after the tour. We were thanked for our attitudes during the tour as she’s had other unpleasant experiences with people. Our chat was fun but overall slightly uncomfortable at times. It almost felt like she was trying to bartend, when I’m not sure that is what was needed. The whiskey flight itself was phenomenal. My buddy and I specifically wanted to try their Hot Honey Rye. The honey was very evident in the sip, and complimented the spirit in a way I wasn’t expecting. Their gin was also delicious, and I’m not much a gin drinker myself.Overall I am grateful for the experience to visit Catoctin Creek and to continue supporting their product.

Best place in Purcellville!

Good people - business done right, not to mention they gave out free disinfectant during the pandemic.

Dropped by for a taste of whiskey that I couldn’t find at the ABC Store. Friendly staff here with a large tasting room. Tried the Rye Whiskey with Hot Honey. A little burn from the chiles followed by the burn from the rye and then smoothed by the honey. Delicious combination!

Had lots of fun on our distillery tour. All staff were very kind and knowledgeable, drinks were great, and very cute & cozy old building.

Everytime I've gone to Purcellville, the Catoctin Creek Distilling Company has been on my radar, this time I finally got to check it out. This is the place to go if you enjoy whisky. I'm typically not a whisky drinker, but when I heard "flight", I was instantly into it. These are three mini carefully crafted cocktails. I have never seen such attention to detail of miniature cocktails. The first one is "Don't Be So Bitter", this one is a bit bitter, but so tasty. I enjoy bitter fruits. The fresh lime juice and the orange peel are contributors to the bitterness here. The next one was "Cardy Days" here we have the cranberry juice, Cardamom Syrup, Spiced Cocoa Bitters, topped with Star Anise. This one was pretty sweet, but delicious nonetheless. The final cocktail was "Assam Nights", this one was my favorite! This one was super flavorful. Here you've got, assam black tea, ginger beer, gin, peach bitters and candied ginger. Assam nights came with a straw so you could reach the liquified ginger! The space is so fun inside. They had groups of people meeting for happy hour, and playing card games. The best part? They handcraft their gin, brandy and whisky in house! You can also buy local honey and maple syrup! I loved my time at Catoctin Creek Distilling Company! They make the tastiest cocktails, that may have converted me into a whisky fan. And they have the kindest people working there! When I'm back in town I'll be sure to stop by again!

Beautifully situated and decorated store/bar/distillery. The tour was very educational and we enjoyed everything we tasted. I’m NOT a whiskey drinker but their whiskey is so smooth, delicately sweet and just well balanced. Enjoyed the gin too. Appreciate that it’s a woman-owned and highly knowledgable, passionate staff

Great Time at Catoctin Creek DistilleryWe were lucky enough to go to one of Catoctin's bottling events. Great explanation of Whiskey and especially the history of Rye Whiskey. Then we all were able try the different stations of bottling: Using the Whiskey Cow, corking, and labeling, and then we got to taste. This is great Rye, definitely my favorite right now. Thank you, Scott and Becky!Date of experience: September 2023

I've traveled the world with Catoctin Rye in tow. Always a pleasure bringing Virginia's finest whiskey to others. Wonderful tasting room and great product.

I recently placed a whisky order for delivery from Catoctin Creek, and realized just after the fact that I'd accidentally chosen the pick-up option versus the delivery option. Since I'm hundreds of miles away from CC, that wasn't possible, so I immediately reached out to CC to help me fix my mess. Scott responded within minutes to inform me product cannot be delivered to my state (c'mon, Wisconsin!), and offered to cancel my order and refund my money. I have bought Catoctin Creek products in the past (through 3rd party sellers/shippers), and will continue to do so, partly because of how this situation was handled. And if I ever find myself near the Catoctin Creek distillery, I will certainly make it a point to stop in for a libation or five!

Its a pretty small shop so the tour was super short but every single one of their spirits I tried was quite good. The service was also very friendly and just genuine. Would recommend.
