I met Kate in line at Thai This in Radford. She actually brought some yummy goodies for the workers at Thai This, and the owner was kind enough to share a goodie with me! Her blondies are AMAZING. I normally take or leave blondies but Kate’s was absolutely delicious and I’d spend money on more! Plenty of chocolate inside 🤤🤤 I recommend to all people who love sweets!

I needed a special cake for a very special grad and am so glad I found Afternoon Delights! I only had 5 day notice to get a cake and not only was she very nice and accommodating but right on schedule she even delivered (am mobility challenged). They are the most amazing cakes! I am older, over 65 so I have been able to sample lots of cakes and her cakes will stand with the best I have ever tasted and I worked beside 3 and 4 star chefs in county club setting. The red velvet is to die for the cream cheese icing was perfect creamy not too sweet and you could taste the cream cheese, her breads are like loafs of moist flavorful cakes with out the need for icing. I ordered the Brownie which is like it's name, rich moist chocolate brownie and her cinnamon sugar doughnut is like a moist crumb doughnut with lots of cinnamon sugar baked on top. I had previously purchased her banana bread at the farmers market and it was beyond good it was even still warm from the oven and full of nuts and flavor, so moist. I HIGHLY recommend this young lady's bakery and I am NOT related nor did I know her personally prior to my order or first purchase of banana bread.

The cupcakes at New River Cakes were amazing. My staff and I often go and pick up a dozen or more cupcakes because they are delicious! The cakes are beautiful and delicious. I would highly recommend!

I decided to treat myself to a cake for my birthday this year. I had heard good things about this place and wanted to try it. Brenda was friendly and helpful, and the cake was amazing! The cake itself was moist and the frosting was just like what I make but thicker. I hate store-bought cakes with the shortening-based frosting, so I was very pleased with what Brenda created for my cake. I opted for a 10" cake with swirls in the frosting. It was beautiful and very heavy! I think next year I will buy from New River Cakes again but go for an 8" cake next time, as the 10 inch one was really more than we needed. I highly recommend this shop.

Purchased a slice of donut bread one week and purchased two loaves the next. I will be purchasing more. Is there any better way to say that I highly recommend them?

I was very disappointed with the cake and service all around. I asked for a round double layered cake. She talked me out of it and made a single round cake. I should not have to argue to get what I asked for. She made it seem like it was too much trouble to make the double layered cake. The cake was small and very dry. I do not know what has happened but their cakes and service has gone down hill. I will not go back and, I do not recommend new river cakes!
