Do not miss this restaurant! Authentic delicious home cooking in walking distance from the university. The owner is working solo, please be patient. It will be worth the wait. We had the veggie platter amd beef platter with gluten free bread. The vegetables were freshly cooked and all dishes were seasoned to perfection. A fresh hot meal, followed by the most delicious pot of coffee. And the owner is a delightful hostess. My husband imagines this would be a great spot for a professor to bring a group of students to sit and talk and eat and relax evenings; what a lovely idea. We will return each time we visit our son at the university.

This restaurant may not impress from the outside, and don't expect a glamorous decor inside, but the food is excellent. I love Ethiopian food because of all the flavors. If you like spicy food and/or you've already had Ethiopian food, or if you want to experience something new, stop by this location in downtown Radford to give your taste buds a memorable experience. Ask the owner about the spices used, and you'll get an overview of what sets Ethiopian food apart. I love the red lentil stew with enjera (the traditional flat bread), but be prepared for some heat in your mouth. Many of the dishes served are vegetarian, or can be made vegetarian, a plus.

If I could give this place 100 stars I would! Stopped by after work and got the veggie platter with their Ethiopian coffee. The veggie plate is so good! I'd eat this every single day if I could! The prices are very reasonable and the owner/cook was so sweet and caring! I'll be back as often as possible I can already tell!

Really good Ethiopian food, but the restaurant itself is quite a dive. No air conditioning, questionable cleanliness, no decor, and cavernous. "Momma" took a while to make her food but it was so delicious when she served it, thus the four stars.

Oh my absolute God, this food was the best Ethiopian homestyle cuisine I've had in all my years traveling the states. It was warm, rich in flavor and even buttery without the guilty heavy after feeling. The love of this woman puts in her meals makes you feel like you're home.

We got takeout here during a long road trip. The food was absolutely amazing! The kebab sandwich and beef tibs were delicious, and the wings were like no others I've ever tried- rich, crispy, and buttery! I'd eat here all the time if we were local.

The food is awesome and the owner is amazing. It was REALLY like being in her kitchen and having her mix up something fresh just for us!

My husband and I decided to try something new and we are SO happy that we did. Almost daily we drive by Mamma Kitchen in downtown Radford and our curiosity got the best of us today. We shared the Curry Chicken and the Veggie Platter with an extra order of Injera. I honestly cannot pick a favorite. The curry chicken comes with a chili sauce on the side...it's so good! We are looking forward to trying more of Mamma's dishes.

This place is totally amazing! So much food for the money. The price is great and the customer service we received from Mamma was the absolute best. She is a wonderful person overall with great conversation! This is a must visit food spot!!!!

I love Ethiopian food. So, when I heard there was a new place in Radford, I was very excited to check it out. We called ahead to order the Veggie Platter, the Chicken Curry, and some extra Injera for carry out. They told us it would be ready in 20 minutes. When we arrived, 25 minutes later, the food wasn't ready. Actually, it wasn't even started. The one person in the kitchen had to ask again what it was we wanted. On the plus side, it did look like she was cutting fresh vegetables and cooking them to order ... but after ten minutes, it still wasn't ready. Since the restaurant was getting crowded, my GF returned to the car. After yet another ten minutes, they called to tell us it was ready. My GF went back inside ... but alas, it STILL wasn't ready!! Seriously. Almost an hour after we called it, our order was finally ready. We took it home and ate it. The food was good. It wasn't as good as any of the other Ethiopian food I've had, but it was good. The Mesir Wot was spicy and delicious. The Kik Alicha was also very good. The rest was less memorable. Oh, and they didn't give us the extra Injera we ordered. At least, I don't think so. There certainly wasn't much of it. In summary, the food was good, but not great; the service was friendly, but slow and forgetful. Since it's a new place and I want them to stick around for a while, I'll generously give the experience 3 stars.

Very good food. Owner insisted we eat the beef tip and vegetables for two, and it was great. You can watch her cook it and talk to her. The coffee was great. I would eat here again any time.

Amazing food, great hospitality. Very authentic Ethiopian food served in a home-like ambience, just what you expect from the name of the restaurant. If you never had Ethiopian food, I encourage you to try it, and Mamma Kitchenis an excellent place for you to do so.
