I came in to Crafthouse expecting the typical bar experience: a beer, a couple wings, and “okay” service. Little did i know that Ava was working tonight, and wow, what a surprise. The best service i’ve had since i can remember. Ava is a GEM! Thank you Crafthouse, but an even bigger thank you to Ava for making my outing so memorable and great!!!!

The Crafthouse is my go to place when I am in the Reston area. They have 50 beers on tap so there are lots of beer options. The food is great. My go-to choice is the steak bowl. Tuesday is trivia night. Wednesday and Friday are karaoke nights. Lots of tv’s to watch the sporting events. It’s a nice place to go and have a fun time.

While the food is ok, the service is absolutely terrible. We have been here about 4-5 times now and the staff could care less if you’re there. They’re super rude (collectively) and it feels like anything you ask of them is an absolute pain. When ordering a drink very kindly, it feels like it’s a total pain for them to have to get your drink for you — even though that is their job. And we are such a kind group of people, too. We accidentally spilled our drink on our table tonight and had to clean it all ourselves with scraps of napkins that we found throughout the restaurant across the span of about 20 minutes; about 5 staff members passed by and not one of them offered to help. If this was one bad experience we’d understand, but this whole group of staff members just seem super unhappy to be there every time we’ve visited and it seems like any simple request is an absolute hassle. Make you feel like you’re a nuisance for dining in. As a prior waitress for many years (who understands the ins and outs of restaurant life, etc), this level of service is consistently unpleasant and bizarre.

Their bartenders are Horrendous. My friends and I were there this past Friday night (12/12/25), and one of the female bartenders got into a heated altercation with one of my friends who was simply trying to pay his bill. Two of the three female bartenders had mistreated my friend throughout the entire evening, and when my friend went to close out his tab he simply complicated the one bartender who was actually nice to him. However, she didn’t want to share with him just her first name (which was very weird bc he was simply going to just say something nice about her in his reviews). Then while complimenting her, the other two female bartenders overheard my friend make a comment saying that he felt neglected and mistreated by the other female bartenders because they continuously skipped over him the whole night, allowing many others to go in front of him even though he was clearly standing in line waiting to order drinks (which was also why my friend decided to pay his tab and leave early). Then one of the female bartenders decided to cause a scene while also bringing RACE into the matter. She claimed that because she was “part Asian” it was not possible for her to be discriminative towards my friend who btw did NOT say a SINGLE word about race. SHE was the one who brought it up. That female bartender may have been under the influence as she was acting completely out of line and out of control. Her colleagues had to restrain her bc her body gestures were resemblance to an intoxicated and aggressive person looking to start a physical fight with others. And, then before my friend had a chance to walk out and leave on his own, the manager there went over to escort him out as if he was the bad guy who did something wrong. The whole incident was absolutely absurd, and we are still in the process of filing multiple complaints with consumer protection agencies along with getting in touch with the owner and their corporate office to bring all of this to their attention. Definitely would NOT Recommend this place if you’re looking to go out with some friends for a chill evening. Their servers (bartenders and in the dining area) aren’t the best. Hopefully, with better/the right management they can fix this establishment and turn it around so it can be as good as they once were.
