Lantern House Kitchen & Bar

We stumbled across the lantern house today in a neighborhood that we didn’t even know existed. Boy was it a treat! The decor is stylish, feminine, and very inviting. The bartender was excellent, filled with recommendations. They had so many fancy cocktails in the menu was divine. We really enjoyed our brunch and can’t wait to return!

Good food, servtwas alow due to just one person working, his service was impeccable but I felt bad for him just one person handling all the customers.

I am writing this review based on my first visit. The food, the service, and the atmosphere were extraordinary, and it was the best dining experience that we have had in recent history. We started with the garden summer rolls, which were generously proportioned and tasty. I had the caramelized fish, and although I didn't think that I would be able to eat it all because the portion was so generous, I couldn't stop myself, and I enjoyed all of it immensely, as well as the rice with which it was served. It wasn't too sweet, and it was perfectly seasoned for my taste for spicy food. My husband had the Southern Viet Bò Ko--splendid stewed beef with side options...he chose the baguette, which was crunchy and delicious...also generously proportioned. I did not take photos from that first visit, but I did from the second. They were having an off night because of an owner emergency, and anyone can forgive that. Their crispy rolls were delicious, but too greasy. The caramelized fish was not the same, but the manager was kind to replace it with the red sea fish, and that was delicious. We made the mistake of ordering pho with shrimp, and we much prefer it with beef. I will not mark down this restaurant based on one off night.

Vegetarian options out of stock or limited.

Wasted a trip here. 6:45pm on a Monday they were out of vegetarian spring rolls & out of vegetarian broth for the vegetarian pho. Service was also slow one server/bartender working. So after sitting and waiting I was advised of the items being out. He recommended the vegetarian stir fry and summer rolls but I declined. Finding another place for dinner.

The service and atmosphere was great. The food however, was terrible. No flavor, super dry, all around awful tasting food. We got the crab curry rice -- so dry. Spring roll tasted like frozen shrimp and old lettuce, and the pho broth had no flavor whatsoever. Won't be back.

This is a small restaurant. I would highly recommend making a reservation. We did not. They were full, so we sat at the bar. The food is very tasty. The prices are higher than average. They have a very well stocked bar. The drinks are tasty as well.

Parking: There is a parking garage for the retail spaces. It is a short walk inside the garage and outside. It was raining when we visited the restaurant. It is very well lit.

A lovely, cheerful place that looks very inviting. The food tasted great and the portion size was also good. We ordered dumplings, spring rolls, crispy noodle, stir fry and a lunch special with pho and garden summer rolls. Everything was delicious! We will certainly be back. Our server was also very nice and attentive!

Very pricey and automatic gratuity for 5 people or more is 25% which is ridiculous. And it is not written anywhere.

The first Sixx Cool Moms event I ever attended was here, and it was it hit. Perfect feminine (imo) atmosphere, whimsical drinks (I literally drank glitter?). The garden rolls and fried rice I ordered seemed Americanized, but what do I know? Really. The food was tasty. The drinks were absolutely delicious. I got the Boozy Thai, and the glittery one I forgot the name of. Thank you for hosting our group!

Lantern House Kitchen and Bar is a fantastic neighborhood gem, just a short walk from the Wiehle Metro. The staff is incredibly friendly, and the menu strikes a perfect balance between traditional Vietnamese dishes and unique fusion options. The portions are generous, and everything we tried was delicious—especially the pho and the fresh, flavorful summer rolls.

Their bar is another highlight, with a solid bourbon selection and creative specialty cocktails that really stand out. The new ownership (recently changed about three months ago) is clearly putting in the effort to make this a go-to spot for happy hours or casual nights out with friends. It’s the kind of place where you’ll feel right at home, whether you’re dropping by after work or settling in for a relaxing evening. Highly recommend!
