Attention to detail and my specific needs from my purchase. Expert guidance and insight allowing me to make an informed purchase with confidence.
A traditional LBS(Local Bike Store). The shop works with its customers for their mutual benefit (revenue for the shop, service for the customer), as it should be, not biasing the transaction to either party. The service crew is warm, friendly, and helpful. I hope that I have found my new LBS for supporting my bicycling habit. Love that they incorporate a coffee shop & brewery into their operation too.
This place is a pleasure to visit whether you’re buying a bike or not. You can stop in for a beer and talk with the awesome patrons and knowledgeable staff and browse their extensive inventory. I was looking for a bike for my son to ride with me and get him off the video games. I wanted to get him a bike that he would enjoy and not get tired and the FX e-bike fit the bill. Todd Mater heard my story and said when next week’s shipment came in, he’d hold a bike for me. 3 days later he responded and I went in to check it and another bike out. They were more then happy to set me up with any bike I wanted to test - they are located right on a world class bike trail and I was free to test it out. Mr. Bill Hellwig is an older gentleman with extensive knowledge and shared with me everything he knew from his years of experience in biking and helped guide me in my decision. When I finally settled on what I wanted they made sure everything was adjusted and in perfect order. It was an awesome “new bike day” and they made the process a real pleasure. I highly recommend this bike shop!
My go-to bike shop! Great for service and perfect place to stop off for a beer or coffee on a ride!
After visiting several bike shops in the Loudoun/Fairfax Co area, The Bike Lane Reston provided the best vibe and customer experience, hands down. Adam Reel and Ben (I think I was Ben's first customer on his first day on the job!) were fantastic - they took time on a typically busy but rainy Sunday to patiently educate me on different types of bikes, sizing/fitting, and getting me on the RIGHT bike with NO pressure or up-sell. In the end, I fell in love with and purchased the Trek Checkpoint ALR 4 in Lavender Haze, kitted out for touring. Adam worked diligently in arriving at a very fair price and was also gracious in sharing his considerable knowledge, experience and advice for riding the type of trails that I aspire toward, such as the C&O/GAP. Of note, another Trek dealership closer to home offered to match the price for the same bike, but the stellar service I received from Adam won me over. Well done to Adam and Ben and the entire Bike Lane team!
UPDATE: 8/04/25: Just returned from the C&O Canal trail. The bike totally crushed the ride - even the hilly gravel between Purcellville and Brunswick. So pleased with this purchase!
One of the best places to stop along the W&OD. Great people. Great service. Great beer. What else do you need?
Great ride collections 👌
The service mechanics ignore you and chat while you stand there wondering how long it'll take to be acknowledged.
AIl they have to do is say hi and give me 5 minutes but instead they ghost you.
Finally got their attention by asking the front desk if they could help me. Then the service tech makes some dumb comment about what i should have done to avoid the issue. As if that wasn't obvious and i didn't try.
I came for help. Just say hi, be pleasant, and help me. Pretty basic.
I had a different experience at this bike shop. Mother brought in her bike to have them work on the front brake and adjust the chain. The team member pushed down on the bike a few times and told her it was junk to her face. The bike had only been riden maybe 5 times. Then claimed it would cost too much to fix. Very unprofessional. I found that other bike shops in the area have way better customer service. I would not recommend this shop to anyone. Even if that were true I wouldn’t have purchased a bike here just because of the junky service.
Friendly knowledgeable staff who go above and beyond to provide great service.

The folks at The Bike Lane took good care of us again. :)
Great folks. Explain what is going on with maintenance and did not try to upsell more expensive package.
Mark was great reviewing all the garments and their features.
Extremely knowledgable technicians, friendly employees and yummy beer.
The folks at The Bike Lane are super friendly and knowledgeable. Not to mention the beer at the Reston shop is awesome. I would recommend this shop to anyone without hesitation.
The Bike Lane is a wonderful shop that encourages people to ride their bikes. Everyone from the owners to the mechanics to the sales people and cafe staff are welcoming and encouraging. As a customer with physical limitations, they were patient in connecting me with the right bike. Then, when I hadn’t ridden in a while and didn’t remember how to correctly mount it in its rack, they started from square one, and got me back in the saddle.
Even the shop dog is super cute.
I can’t say enough good things about them, but if you haven’t ridden a bike in a while, and it’s something you’d really like to do - even if you’re not ready to buy - I encourage you to stop by there and see what might be a good fit for you. They’ll let you try bikes and E-bikes and there is no high pressure sales pitch. Also, they are a brewery, and although I’m not a big drinker, I’ve heard good things about their beer. I did like their cold brew coffee a lot. They support other local businesses by hosting food trucks, so rolling out there on a Thursday afternoon and making an evening of it is a good plan.
