I'm so happy I found this place. Both beef stews we tried were amazing. The Birria Fries were a favorite, for sure, and the Menudo was great. Will definitely make this a staple during colder months. Amazing flavors, great service, and reasonable prices.

I can only comment on my experience. They only had 2 tables filled. I informed the girl I was meeting there and she went over all the choices with me. She spoke a little fast but was patient with me. I am from San Diego but this is authentic Mexican food in some parts of Mexico. I thought the food was above average. Some were just ok but other stews were excellent. The beef tacos are very good. Service was great. Mostly clean floors and store. The only problem is the area itself is in the ghetto. But the store doesn’t reflect that at all. I would go again if there was another location was closer to me. I’m in the short pump area so it’s not worth a 30 minute drive to me but if it was 15 mins or less then hands down I would go more often. The burrito itself is good but you don’t taste the meat enough with all the other flavors in there.

Delicious tacos and plates. Super friendly and helpful service staff. Highly recommend the Birria!
We absolutely love Abuelita’s in Richmond, VA!
As vegans, it can sometimes be hard to find variety, but Abuelita’s always has plenty of delicious plant-based options no matter what day we visit. The food is flavorful, fresh, and always satisfying.
We also used their catering service for our wedding celebration, and it was incredible! There was so much food, and our guests couldn’t stop raving about it for days. While we don’t eat meat, many of our friends and family do — and they were obsessed with the tamales! The beef, chicken, and pork tamales were a huge hit.
And let me just say — their aguas frescas are out of this world. I recently tried agua de melón (melon juice) for the first time and it was sooo delicious.
Any time we have family visiting from Northern Virginia, we bring them here. The food is quick, tasty, many options for all diets, and the service is always warm and welcoming. Everyone is always happy here, and that means a lot.
Highly recommend!

I did enjoy the atmosphere makes you not feel like your not on that part of Midlothian.I got the single serve but split between two options. So pork belly that was over cooked, and the pepper steak which I enjoyed. The beans didn't have any flavor but thats ok, salsa bar! But all in all it was good. I guess just the checkout price was a bit much for sure. So you pay for the queso then they charge you for the chips. The mexican coke 3.75.. all in all pretty good except the total was 24 10 percent tip like 27 bucks for lunch....

I love this place. As a vegetarian, they make sure to have great veggie options! Guac is fresh.
Their menu changed daily. The food feels home made and healthy.
Bonus, if you come on weekends they have amazing tamales.

They have tamales. They have a salsa bar. But come for the Mexican stew. Basically 8 to choose from...served with rice and beans. I chose the medium plate with two half portions of stew refried beans and Mexican rice. Comes with 3 housemade tortillas. They gave me samples of the stews before I had to choose. 13 bucks otd Fantastic!

I went because of many good reviews online. It was empty when I went. Ordered birria fries, at first they looked good but the fries were cold, the overwhelming amount of cheese that they put on top was also cold so it never melted and the birria was whatever. The pineapple juice was good. Another overrated Richmond place…

I love this restaurant. I don't have any pictures because I ate my food before I thought about the review. Their margarita's are amazing. I ordered food 3 times in the last two weeks.

I ordered catering for 20 people for pickup at the restaurant, and everything was excellent—on time and exactly as requested. All the guests enjoyed what we offered. It was a great choice.
