Havn't been to Bacchus in quite a while. Six of us went for dinner and had an amazing time. The calamari was outstanding and there was a white bean appetizer that also was excellent. Main courses of Tuna and the NY strip with gorgenzolla topping were out of this world. Side dished of spinich and polenta were fantastic.Customer service was spot on and pricing wasn't crazy for the high quality of food served and the excellent service provided. We will be back !!!

Excellent service. The best chicken piccata I've ever had. Very generous portions, so go when you're hungry!

This visit to Baccus was a return trip after a less than stellar experience about a year ago, and unfortunately it landed the same way.

The fundamental issue is the kitchen. The cooks do not seem to communicate, they are not tasting the food, and they are not seasoning with any confidence. Every pasta dish at our table came out bland and flavorless. The eggplant parmesan was also underwhelming, with very little cheese and almost no depth of flavor.

One practical fix: the entrees need to lose the side salad. A side salad with eggplant parm misses the mark. What people want is a small side of pasta. You can see it on the plates when the salad comes back untouched.

Service was okay, but not stellar. Our server was clearly stretched thin with too many tables.

Bottom line: Baccus is a great local spot with a lot of potential, but it needs an owner or chef back in the kitchen someone who takes pride in the food and brings passion to execution.

Not sure what’s going on with their kitchen. Much of our meal was inedible. Salmon (extremely dry), shrimp (rubber) and crustinis (hard as a rock, couldn’t physically bite through them). No flavor in some dishes and some were just heat and no spice. Mad we paid as much as we did and couldn’t eat it.

Continues to be one of my top choices in Richmond 13 years later and an absolute must anytime I have out of town visitors.

I haven’t eaten here in about 15 years, but it was recommended by friends to go for a very special birthday celebration. We had guests who drove from Charlottesville and they were running late, so I called and pushed our reservation from 7 to 7:30. They said absolutely no problem. We arrive at 7:30 and spent a few minutes getting drinks and catching up. The waitress was not pleasant from the start. After getting our drinks she asked what we wanted. I said we needed a few more minutes and she said, “well, the kitchen is closing at 8.” I would not have pushed the reservation back if I had known this was going to be a rushed dinner. We had to hurry to make our decisions and did so. The food came out quickly and was delicious. We had been looking forward to a dessert our guests had seen on the menu, but our waitress came over, threw the check on the table and walked off. I work in the service industry and couldn’t believe how bad the service was. Really disappointing.

Thoroughly bummed with my experience at Bacchus. Richmond has a competitive dining scene and this restaurant seems to fall flat across the board.

I work in customer service myself, so my patience and threshold in these environments is typically high. Our server could not have seemed less interested in our table, and was generally cold in their demeanor until our bill began to tally into the hundreds. I won't name names, but I feel like you know who you are, and you (or management) doesn't seem to care if you do better.

The food was hit or miss. Some dishes were okay. Some were not. There are at least 2-3 other Italian options within a 3 mile radius that accomplish the same goal while meeting or exceeding expectations.

The dining area was poorly ventilated. I actually had to step outside to catch a breather and collect myself. It's hard to put me in an uncomfortable dining situation yet here is Bacchus yet again managing to lower the bar.

The wine was great, the bathrooms were clean, and once our server mentally checked out the bar staff was lovely.

Great cozy place, food was awesome, staff was very friendly and made great recommendations. The chicken piccata was absolutely awesome. I came in for solo dinner, but it would be a great date spot or a place to come with your friends. I see why this neighborhood gem is always packed.

We went to eat dinner and we waited while another couple sat, had apps, dinner and an after dinner drink. We waited, I went to the restroom and on the way back, I saw the cook on his phone and the kitchen was closing. I asked where our food was. The waitress did not put in our order. I will never go here again.

My go to spot when I have friends visiting, or when I’m needing a cozy meal. Their shared/small plates are truly an adventure. I’m in love with the risotto, mussels, cauliflower, amongst so many others. There is rarely a long wait, and it truly embodies the Richmond vibe. Love this spot!

We were unimpressed with the service. So unwelcoming. We walked in without a reservation (not required) at 5:00 opening and were told we could stay if we could be done by a certain time. We understood this but the way we were greeted was not pleasant. No smile; not welcoming. And they were quick to let us know they had no high chairs, booster seats, kids cups or kids menu. It was obvious they were not kid friendly and we felt quite unwelcome with our children there. When we asked for more bread, our waitress acted bothered and responded, “um….yeah.” She acted put out. A little smile and nice greeting goes a long way. Don’t think we want to give business to them anymore!

The food is good no complaints there. However my only complaint will be the ventilation does seem that great so you smell like the food they are cooking once you leave. Also wish they had better parking. Besides that not a bad spot to eat.

Good service and nice options. Visited on weekday and it was not much crowded. We tried some veg options and looking for some spicy food Options were good however taste was little pale for me.
Parking is little challenging as it is exactly in junction. After 6:00PM will give some roadside parking options.

I heard all of the hype about this place….and was extremely disappointed in the food. I feel like Bacchus is Italian food for American people who haven’t actually had good/real Italian food.

My husband and I went for date night and each of our three plates was a complete miss. Our kale salad just tasted…bad. The kale was too tough and not chopped up correctly. The stuffed mushroom and pasta main were both bland and watery, not seasoned well. I feel like we could have made better tasting food at home.

2 stars instead of 1 because the ambiance was cute and we did like our wine. I will not be returning.

Nice place for dinner. Relaxed atmosphere. Food very good. Service was friendly, respectful and polite. Noise level above average but only because of the limited seating area, of course people need to talk. Would definitely go again to try the interesting menu.
