My friend Brendan and I stepped into this nice establishment today, I got half a pound of chicken with collard greens. He got half a pound of chicken as well but with a quarter pound of brisket and collard greens. May we say they were both phenomenal and the collard greens are to die for, genuinely the best collard greens I’ve ever had. As well, the customer service was phenomenal, the staff was amazing and very welcoming. Overall this has to be one of the best BBQ spots I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating at, and definitely the best in Virginia.

I'm so happy I decided to try this restaurant out! The food was great! I love a BBQ place with good meat AND sides. The pulled pork and ribs were meaty, tender, and seasoned. I also had the mac & cheese and yams which tasted like my childhood. No complaints! 10s cross the board. I can't wait to go back!

My wife and I had a great experience at Bar-Q. From the moment we walked in, Sophia and Dani made us feel welcome by greeting us right away and taking great care of us throughout our visit.
The food was excellent—fresh, flavorful, and exactly what we were hoping for. A special shoutout to Sophia for putting together a grape limeade that instantly took me back to my childhood, reminding me of the grape limeades from Bill’s Barbecue. That nostalgic touch really made the experience stand out.
Overall, the service and food were both top-notch. We’ll definitely be coming back!

We found them via social media with great reviews. Drove 1.5hrs for cold food, and Mac n cheese that tasted frozen. Although the atmosphere has a potential to be amazing seeing staff argue in front of guests is very unprofessional especially with an open area.

My first time coming here, my food was phenomenal. Everything tasted great and I literally had no complaints.( Pulled chicken sandwich, Greens, Potato Salad)
The second time I came, unfortunately my experience was a bit different. I asked for no slaw on my sandwich but still received it with slaw on it. My greens also had some hard bits in them, which made them difficult to enjoy.
I also ordered the Christmas beans thinking they would taste like the average baked beans you’d normally get at a cookout, but they didn’t. They tasted off to me and just weren’t my preference. I personally wasn’t a fan.
As far as the yams, they were super sweet and had a bit of a tang to them. I wasn’t the biggest fan of those either.
Overall, my first visit set a really high expectation, so it was a bit disappointing that my second experience felt inconsistent.

Was looking for great bbq in the gan of RVA. Bar-Q has been on my radar for a while and it did not disappoint. Food was delicious, presentation was spot on and the owner (Mr. Jamie) took time to talk with everyone in the restaurant to make sure they were pleased. Definitely headed back soon

The service was terrible. The woman behind the counter with red glasses was extremely agitated and rude.
For some reason, she became upset about having to provide vinegar sauce, despite having cups of it already prepped.
Wouldn't spend my money here again due to the rude service.
