Incredible service!! I live in Atlanta and wanted to find a bottle of wine that was requested by one of my clients in the area. I could not find this specific bottle anywhere in the area so Barrel Thief was kind enough to place a special order for me and then delivered it to my client the next day. I would have been lost without them. I cant thank them enough for their help and kindness! It's hard to find great service like this!

This is my go to wine shop in all of Richmond.(I have had over 1500 different Virginia wines, over 2000 different French wines…Barrel Thief is my spot when I need a bottle of wine in Richmond. Great selection and great staff.

Fantastic experience! My sister has shopped here for years, so when I was looking for a "thank you" present for her I went to Barrel Thief. They had her customer profile on hand and were happy to help me choose wines they know she loves, so they were a guaranteed hit! Barrel Thief not only has great customer service, they have a huge selection of wines at all price points from all regions. Go here, you'll be happy you did!

Really love to support my fellow neighbors in the Westhampton area. I love running in for quick bottle or two of wines for friends. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Their Champaign selection is also very bubbly. Party on the Avenues with Barrel Thief & Provisions.

People here friendly and shop nicely laid out but... Not sure where this fits in in terms of wine shops in Richmond. It's much more expensive and with smaller selection than total wine. Veuve is $71 here vs $55 at total wine. Other wines are similarly marked up. The selection isn't great. There were 4 red Bordeaux in the whole shop which is a bit thin for the most famous wine region in the world. The Bordeaux was all super young 2021,2020, 2018, so none of it is even drinkable. I wonder how many people who have no idea or intention of aging walk in and get a 2021 Bordeaux PnP and have a terrible experience. The experience is also not as knowledgeable as J. Emerson. Emerson is also marked up but the selection is much more curated with more interesting wines and a selection of some older wines. I think this is a place you go if you are on your way to a dinner and don't really know much about wine and want to get something quick and easy. Probably not a bad place to pick up a $15 bottle as the mark up is not painful at that price point.

I live in Germany and spent forever trying to decide what to send my mom for mothers day. I stumbled upon this place and was so grateful to find a reliable and local place that delivers. They allow you to select a time frame for delivery so I was lucky enough to be on the phone with my mom when she recieved this. With travel difficult right now, this meant a lot to me. I can't wait to send her more surprises from here!

Booth and Diane not only know wine but their customer service is amazing. They will find you anything you’re looking for and even personally bring it to your door if needed. The Barrel Thief is THE place to go in Richmond for wine. Oh, and there’s always something new to taste if you stop in the shop!

Barrel Thief is a great local shop to procure your wine and accompanying goodies! Booth and Diane are extremely knowledgeable if you are looking for something specific, and great at offering a variety of wines if you don't have anything particular in mind. We get a monthly case (there are multiple price levels available, and you can choose monthly or quarterly) and have enjoyed sharing those bottles with friends and family over the past year. Stop by to peruse the shop or get your wine delivered if you're short on time. Really can't recommend this place enough.

Great wine shop with a wide selection at price points to fit just about any budget. Have had some excellent wines, enjoyed great tastings and events, and look forward to returning frequently. It has become my go to wine shop in Richmond.

Love this business and so happy to support it. Diane took the time to source a wine from Portugal that we'd discovered on a trip. Thank you!

My son sent me 6 bottles every month for the last 6. So far 3 have been totally undrinkable… I brought 1 back but didn’t bother with the rest as it is not convenient. Just for the record, I even think some box wines are good… these were just skunky. One bottle out of 36, ok… 3 in out of 36 is not a good record.

I found the wine selection here pretty versatile and a good combination of local VA, US and international selections. Great neighborhood store!
