Food was delicious. But we was the only table that didn't have one of those fans to keep the flies away and they knew it!!!

The barrio tacos were absolutely amazing!
The barrio bowl was very hearty and healthy. Well worth the money, the server was fantastic and compliments to the chef as well. Will definitely be coming back.

Very sad, this used to be one of our favorite places and we would come for the $2 happy hour margs all the time. Pretty sure it came under new ownership because the menu has completely changed, prices have literally tripled, and the quality of the food is the same if not worse. The servers are great though!

Taqueria y Tequila in Richmond exceeded expectations! The vibrant atmosphere and friendly staff instantly made me feel welcome. The menu offers a tantalizing array of authentic Mexican dishes, each bursting with flavor. The tacos were a highlight, with perfectly seasoned fillings and fresh, handmade tortillas. The margaritas were also top-notch, expertly crafted with a perfect balance of sweetness and tang. The restaurant's tequila selection is impressive, offering a diverse range for every taste. Whether you're craving a casual meal or a festive night out, Taqueria y Tequila delivers a memorable dining experience.
Had the Barrio Bowl with chicken and it was delicious. Dylan the chef really knows what he is doing in that kitchen. Had two waitresses come to the table and both were great and attentive

My boyfriend and I ordered the taco fries, carne asado tacos, and shrimp quesadilla back in March and it was one of the best meals we’ve had! The taco fries in particular were amazing and had this great taco seasoning on them. We ordered the same items again on Friday and we got almost completely different items than months ago even though the item descriptions on the menu stayed the same. We were very disappointed with our meal. The taco fries had this thick batter on them with no taco seasoning. The carne asado tacos looked homemade and not restaurant quality and barely had any peppers or onions on them. After doing some digging we saw that ownership may have changed which might have caused the decrease in food quality. I would recommend if the items are going to change to update the menu to reflect this. Honestly we were just so disappointed with the meal and couldn’t finish it.
Chipotle quality food at higher prices. Drinks are all to sweet. Before this changed owners it was one of my favorite haunts now it feels like a Tokyo joes.

I don't know who needs to hear this but the cook Dylan needs a raise!!! I have been all over the Richmond area and been to every bar and restaurant in the area, I have never experienced a chef coming out and speaking with the customers and making sure the food is up to their standards and asking for feedback whether it be negative or positive. In this case very positive!! My buddy and I had the mahi tacos and the chicken teriyaki tacos. They were phenomenal but let alone experience and the atmosphere was unbelievable again will make this known I have never experienced such a great atmosphere of people and the fact that they care about their customers is above and beyond. The bartender I believe her name was Hannah, made our drinks with extra love. We definitely will be back and we cannot wait for taco Tuesday's sliders that the chef made sure he informed us about again great job Dylan and I don't know who reads these but get that man a raise!!

When my partner and i moved to richmond ~2 years ago barrio quickly became one of our favorite spots. Even more so when we discovered the BOMB happy hour deal and started going every friday. Ownership changed recently (2? 4 months ago?) and we went in about a month ago and noticed happy hour prices had gone up. We shrugged it off. We went again last week and noticed the happy hour prices had gone up AGAIN. i did a little investigating and found some pictures from february when the house margs were $3 (YES!!!) and chips and salsa was $1.95 (!!!). In the span of 4 months somehow the happy hour marg price DOUBLED to $6 and they entirely took the chips off the happy hour deal??? Normally I’d shrug this off but when I went last week the marg I had tasted like literal gasoline. I could have gotten behind the counter and made myself a better marg. A gasoline marg wouldn’t bother me for $3 but doubling the price but not the quality, ya lost me. The menu has changed a lot through the switch in ownership and some of my favorite things have left the menu as well (adobo chicken tacos, I’ll never forget you). Let me end on a good note here and say that the staff who work at this restaurant are INCREDIBLE and have always been kind and helpful, I know changing the prices is not their fault nor do they have control.
TLDR dinners decent here, staff are fantastic, happy hour sucks now.

Let me tell you, this joint is fire!!! The atmosphere, the service.... the chef Darren, dude man came to me because I wanted a burrito as hot as he could. And dude came out and talked to me to ask how serious I was. That don't happen ANYWHERE else I have been. It was AWESOME my wife and I had a great time on an impromptu date. And Darren, I was serious about my hot sauce, if you want to make a food challenge, just holler at me man. I grow a few pepper plants a year like I told you. Just let me know if you wanna give it a try. They are raised with no chemicals, buddy. Thanks for the amazing service!

Amazing service, amazing customer care, and the food here is off the chain. So if your looking for something smooth and relaxing, a friend gathering then this is the place to be it’s all around a great, fun and laid back place to decompress and/or catch up with friends. The entire staff is really polite, positive, and friendly. Highly recommend trying the brunch menu!

I recently dined at Barrio's and enjoyed their battered beer fish tacos and overnight-cooked brisket. The fish tacos were crispy and flavorful, with a light beer batter, fresh toppings, and a zesty lime crema. The overnight brisket was incredibly tender and juicy, with a perfect smoky flavor. Both dishes were outstanding, complemented by excellent service and a pleasant ambiance. Highly recommended!

Gave Barrio another go after hearing it's under new ownership. Margaritas and the birria nachos. When we started digging into it we could not help but laugh out loud. All of the meat was longer than pieces of spaghetti, mushy, and severely under-flavored like a bad home crockpot experiment. We ate the chips and as much meat as we could stomach but the photo of the remainders says it all.
P.S. What's with the fried onion bits? Those belong on green beans at Thanksgiving not nachos.
