Beijing On Grove is a popular restaurant that offers a variety of dishes, including appetizers, noodle/rice dishes, entrees, and desserts. The food is consistently great, with standouts like the Chicken and Broccoli, Tangerine Beef, and mapo tofu. The restaurant has a hipster RVA cool vibe with a Chinese/Asian flair, plenty of seating, and a spacious bar area serving tasty cocktails. The service is attentive, friendly, and welcoming, with staff making recommendations and checking in at the right moments. The decor is cute and the restaurant is always clean, creating a pleasant dining environment. Recent visitors praised the food as phenomenal, especially the smoked duck and grouper special, calling them unbelievable. Many guests enjoy the diverse cocktail menu and generous portions, with some lucky enough to sit on the patio and watch the lively street scene. The restaurant also accommodates dietary restrictions, offering vegan options and able to make vegetarian dishes vegan. The staff is very accommodating and provides great recommendations. The menu features authentic Chinese dishes that transport diners to Beijing near the Forbidden City, including spicy flounder, tea smoked duck, chili dumplings, and crispy tempura eggplant. The dinner menu is more expansive and includes authentic options, with a Chef's Special fixed price group menu that offers a selection of appetizers and main courses, similar to an omakase experience.
