I really enjoy this location and the café overall, but the drinks are just too inconsistent from visit to visit. Whether it’s flavor, milk ratio, or temperature, I never quite know what I’m going to get.

My polite suggestion would be to have someone in place long-term who can maintain consistent standards and procedures. This place has so much going for it, but I can’t imagine I’m the only one noticing this inconsistency, and I worry it will eventually catch up.

The food is fine. I appreciate that they use real eggs for the sandwiches - that’s a huge win, since not many comparable places do. The bagels, though, could use some improvement. That said, for a local neighborhood café, the sandwiches work. I just really hope they get a better handle on the drinks.

Quaint little coffee house, with nice outdoor seating. It was a wonderful day outside and their outside seating was the perfect spot to sit quietly with a cup and get some work done.

This is such a cute little corner coffee shop that immediately gives off nature-meets-hippie vibes in the best way. The service was quick and efficient, which made the experience even better. There’s a cozy outdoor space where you can sit on a bench and enjoy your drink, and the fact that they allow dogs out back was perfect for us since we had our pup with us.

I ordered an iced chai latte, and it was honestly one of the best I’ve ever had—spiced just right and super refreshing. My fiancé got an iced coffee with cookie butter, and it was equally delicious. Between the great atmosphere, friendly service, and amazing drinks, this place has definitely become a new favorite. Highly recommend!

I think I may have just found my new favorite coffee shop in Richmond!

First off, compared to other coffee spots in the area, this place is so affordable. For a French muffin with sausage and egg, a bagel with sausage, and two drinks, we spent just $20! At a lot of other cafes, breakfast and drinks for two can easily run close to $40, so this was such a pleasant surprise.

The shop itself is absolutely adorable. Warm, welcoming, and with plenty of seating both inside and out. The menu is simple and to the point, and I mean that as a huge compliment. You can tell every single item was chosen with care and made with quality in mind.

Now, the food… oh my goodness. The bagels are to die for, I don’t know if they’ve sprinkled magic into the everything bagels or what, but they were incredible. My husband had the French muffin and couldn’t stop raving about it. My matcha latte was perfect, and my coffee-snob husband said the coffee was excellent too.

And the outdoor seating area? Just such a vibe. Relaxing, charming, and the perfect spot to sip your drink and enjoy the day.

If you’re in Richmond, you absolutely have to stop by Black Hand Coffee. It’s the perfect combination of great prices, delicious food, excellent drinks, and a cozy, friendly atmosphere. I can’t wait to go back!

The dirty chai is impeccable, very spicy. I also had a sausage egg n cheese on an English muffin that honestly tasted like a home cooked one. Outdoor patio is dog friendly and an absolute vibe. The inside is a little small but they’ve done a great job optimizing the space they have!

A long line to get an average cup of coffee. Small and loud especially when screaming kids are involved. Nice place to sit outside. They have good bagel options if you care to wait. The staff did not seem to enjoy their jobs with a sour look on their face.

Do not recommend. First- do your research on the owner and the controversies surrounding him.
We ordered some coffee beans online on 7/9/25, as of 7/22/25 there has been no communication. We have reached out via email (addresses provided on website- one does not work), phone (no answer and voicemail is full), and by social media with no response. this company took our money, but has not provided any product. I have also reached out to his business partner, Christopher Staples at Corner Rock Cafe. He was supposed to provide the Black Hand owner with my information so that he could get in contact with me, which hasn't happened. We have filed a report with our bank but BEWARE- DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR MONEY STOLEN.
