great customer service!
for drinks, i got the honey ginger latte (hot) and forbidden fruit smoothie and for food, i got the anebabero and the awaze tibs.
the drinks were fine, generally the quality and price of what you would expect at a good cafe, definitely on the sweeter side of things, 4/5 for both.
anebabero, personally 5/5 - nice and chewy/springy texture and the olive oil berbere mixture is perfectly flavored including the perfect level of spice.
awaze tibs, personally more like 3.5/5 - beef bits were a bit tough and the tomato salad was nothing special, seasoning was on point though.
both food items are a bit pricey for what they are, but i'm not mad about it? vibes are good inside, outdoor seating looks comfy. the counter chairs are also quite interesting although i imagine shorter people would struggle to get up and down from them (i'm 5'7 for reference).

Absolutely incredible experience! The food was packed with rich, unique flavors, especially the tibs, barley, and Ethiopian-style eggs. Lily and her husband were warm and welcoming, and the citrus espresso drink was such a fun surprise. Cozy space, beautiful energy, and I can’t wait to come back with friends. Highly recommend!

Best Ethiopian food in Richmond. And the owners are gems.

This was my favorite food in Richmond for breakfast/lunch. The people are friendly and patient with questions. The space is warm and inviting, but room for quiet work or reading too. And OMG! the food. I ordered it 3x in 5 days, including some to take home. Don’t miss this gem!

I came here from a food tour and had a taste of their cold brew. It was so good, I came back after the food tour and bought more cold brew and beans! I also met the owner who was super sweet and helpful. Their homemade syrups were also delicious! Highly recommend visiting if you’re in the Richmond area!

I’ve never eaten Ethiopian food, and this was the best entrance into Ethiopian breakfast. The atmosphere was delightful, the flavors deep yet approachable and the service provided was top notch! You knocked it out of the park Buna Kurs!
