This is the ideal coffee shop. Perfect atmosphere, plenty of space, and great customer service.

I’ve been visiting here for years and it’s still my favorite sandwich shop in RVA, especially in the Manchester area. The owners are wonderful and the food is like no other. Always a fan!

Coffee is decent. Dont ever have them heat up your pastry here. They put it in a %&$# microwave and wrap it in foil after so its nice and SOGGY by the time you eat it. What is the opposite of a nice pastry? A soggy pastry!
What kind of idiot microwaves a pastry? I paid for coffee and pastry and I have, coffee and inedible soggy goop. I'm not exaggerating, it's like they poured water on the pastry before they nuked it.
I'm never going to the place again. That is just absurd. The person said warm up in oven. Not warm up in microwave. I can see why this place is never busy now. Please go out of business faster so someone with half a clue can take over the space.
I'll be taking my business to Gold Lion or even all the way to Panera with their terrible coffee. At least they dont give you wheat paste when you ask for a pastry.

In response to the reply from the owner;
I didn't come back because I had places to be. That is why I buy coffee and pastry to go. Because I had not time for proper breakfast and a long day. Put you on blast on 2 whole platforms because your mess of a pastry meant I was going without anything to eat until I get home around 7pm.
Dont worry I wont come back for you to make it right as you offered earlier. There really isn't anything appealing on your menu anyway.

Stopped in for coffee and a snack. Ended up with a delicious meal of a breakfast bowl with chorizo and GF mini waffles with bacon and hot honey. It was all DELICIOUS! My frosted mint iced mocha was good too. It did take quite a while for drinks & food, possibly because of a big group that was ahead of us. But the wait was totally worth it. We'll be back!

Cafe Zata was my first breakfast experience when I moved to Richmond in 2020. Their sandwiches (for lunch and breakfast) would make any northerner feel at home. And their cheese selection allows for so many different combinations!

What's up, my fellow viewers!

Just wanted to share my experience from the weekend. We visited a lovely family-owned restaurant in the heart of Manchester, Richmond, VA.

Let's dive right in.

We started off with a veggie omelet, but felt like we needed some more protein, so we added some blackened pepper turkey with home fries. Everything was absolutely delicious – the taste, texture, flavor, and the way it was prepared, all fantastic.

Then, we tried the blackened pepper turkey cold sandwiches, and they were bursting with flavor. The wheat bread was incredibly fresh and soft.

My first visit I got to meet John and Joanna, the owners of Cafe Zata. From the introduction to finishing my fantastic lunch was a peaceful and satisfying experience. I chose The 700 as my first impression and was not displeased with my choice. I would like to assume that the rest of their menu is just as good as The 700. Will definitely return many many times to come. Thanks again!! Cheers!

I got two breakfast sandwiches...one to eat, one to take with me. Been getting same here for years and love it. Bagel with egg, Swiss, chorizo sausage. A Been great. These two were extreme disappointment! The egg, minimal cheese was only a 'flavoring' to the bagel!. And the little sausage was just like little 'spread' that was barely enough if was HALF of the sandwich. Not in area often, so is a destination for me because was always So great! So disappointing

Fair pricing, delicious food and wonderful vibe. Big fan of the corned beef hash and any of the lavender drinks.

Great local, neighborhood café with cozy atmosphere, warm service, and even cozier food. Try a meat, egg, and cheese bagel—my favorite is chorizo; it comes as a layer of spicy sausage crumble. The coffee & espresso are great, and the café is always clean. Excellent place to bring family, friends, and/or coworkers.
