I recently visited a wonderful Peruvian spot called Canastas with my youngest son . When he got his order he was disappointed because he failed to look at the large selection of choices they offered- then he asked me what I wanted. I tried their green rice and pinto beans, which were seasoned just right and had a perfect texture. They also served up some delicious grilled chicken and a side of plantains that were super tasty. Everything flowed together really well. The service was quick, and the food came out hot and perfectly seasoned. The second time I went, I just ordered a bowl of the green rice and a bowl of the pinto beans, and it was just as satisfying. Definitely a place worth returning to!

It’s a hit or miss at this place. Food is usually good but the service sucks all the time. The previous owners when it was called Salsa Chicken had better service. I’ve been here four times and they make you feel like they’re doing you a favor. Today I ordered takeout meal for one, no drink, no desert. Spent $19.08 and paid $20 cash. Left $7 at the tip bucket (35%) and was asked, do you want your change? I said yes. Not too happy about counting 92 cents she basically threw the change at me. Some coins dropped and the ones placed on my hand went in the tip jar. Not a lthank you” or a “have good evening.”
Chicken Fiesta is 10 extra minutes from my home. I will be driving the extra 10 minutes. For the last 17 years at Chicken Fiesta I’ve been greeted, treated right, and provided with great service. I guess that is why Chicken Fiesta has been around for some time and places like Canasta Chicken have to change owners and usually stay empty.
To the business owner: if your business is truly selling food and you depend on selling food then you probably need to retrain your employees. If you don’t need to sell food and don’t need happy customers to succeed, keep it up, you’re doing a great job at keeping people away.

Every time I am in Richmond area this is my go to place for a quick stop for lunch or dinner. Very reasonably priced food. Great taste. My go to is the Pollo à la Brasa.

This was our first time trying Peruvian food. We each ordered something different, and were all impressed. It was delicious!!! The portions were generous and the staff was friendly. We will be back.

The chicken I got was like leftovers and the service was rude. Go to any other location and it’s good but avoid this one. The one in Midlothian is the best!
