I'm a 14 year restaurant manager and this blew my mind. Ordered half chicken combo with an extra side item of the steak that comes with the quarter chicken and steak. Asked when ordered for it not to be cut in to pieces as last time it was horrible when chopped up as it's obviously chopped then cooked. Food came out it was cut up. The guy at the counter noticed it and went to get it fixed. 10 minutes later he walks out with the tiniest piece of steak I've seen saying his manager said this is what I get because it's a different steak. If it wasn't for already working all day I would have refunded my order and gone elsewhere (I've ordered this order 3 times now) first time it was a whole thin steak(amazing flavor) second time chopped and disgusting and third time now I've gotten a corner cut of the steak for an 8$ add on. We were warmly greeted upon entering, after ordering, when the food was ready and when we left. The food had a lot of flavor and it's a good value. The yucca was fried softer than my preference and the chicharrón was fried harder but I still liked them. I'm glad to have stumbled across this gem.Note: Unless you're going eastbound on Broad Street, pulling into the restaurant takes you on some side streets but it's worth it. There is no direct access to the restaurant westbound.
I picked up a decent sized order for group meeting. The chicken was delicious but the sides, for me, were a little lackluster. I also opted to purchase 2 gallons of sweet tea. Each gallon was 13.00, with tax it was 29.51 FOR TWO GALLONS OF SWEET TEA. TWO. GALLONS. It was not mind blowing sweet tea, either. Get your chicken from here, sides at your own discretion, and gallons of sweet tea from anywhere else. The staff was pretty friendly and the restaurant had a clean interior.
