Everytime I go to this place they seem disorganized. There was a huge wait but when we were seated there were open tables. The food is OK but very suburban mid level. Staff are friendly and trying their best. Much better options in Richmond.
My son and his date were seated nearly 30 minutes after their reservation. The food was very good but also took a good bit of time to receive. They had a dance to get to and had to rush through their meal which was unfortunate. This is the second time I have made a reservation and had to wait more than 20 minutes to be seated.
Overall my dining experience at Cooper's Hawk was acceptable. The areas I found concerning were the restaurant running out of food & the waiting time for diners to receive food. Both of the items I wanted to order were unavailable & for a restaurant I considered to be rather pricey compared to other higher level restaurants, I found them running out of certain items to be unacceptable. The food I did get was tasty. I ordered the wedge salad. However, it was not a traditional wedge salad. It arrived like a regular salad with this small wedge of lettuce included. Other than the presentation, it was a very good salad. I also ordered the Corn & Tomato Risotto. Also very tasty. However very concerning to see a puddle of oil accumulated on one side of the dish. Pretty much the saving grace of this experience was the wine, my cocktail & our server. Our server was very courteous, helpful & as attentive as she could be in such a chaotic environment.
Celebrating my niece's birthday after attending the Ballet. Food service was extremely slow. I have always lived the Parmesan shrimp scampi, but last night was not good. Not sure if it's a different chef or what the difference was, but it was not enjoyable. I didn't even finish the dish. Very disappointing. Asked about the 20th Anniversary Magnum wines, but our server was not very knowledgeable about the event. Considering discontinuing my membership. Restaurant is always loud, wine tasting events always overcrowded and now food was disappointing.
Even though we had a reservation for October 17, 2025, our food came out very late (lukewarm to almost cold). We weren't even offered any dessert and had to wait for our orders and meals to come out. We were totally dissatisfied with Cooper's Hawk to say the very least last night.
Timing of the wine delivery was late....we were 3/4 through our entrees when the wine arrived.

I had lunch here with friends. This was my first visit and I was very impressed with the attentiveness of the server! The lunch special ribs & grilled cheese sandwich coupled withe the tomato soup was fantastic!!

My daughter and I were passing through town and found this restaurant when looking for gluten free options. We were greeted by a very friendly woman behind the counter, and shown to our table by a courteous young man. When our server finally arrived, he was also attentive. Unfortunately it took a ridiculous amount of time to even have our drink order taken. I probably should’ve left then but we were hungry.
We ordered and waited for our food to arrive. And waited and waited and waited some more. Once our food arrived, it was slightly warmer than cold. It wasn’t bad, it just lacked flavor and wasn’t the appropriate temperature.
I later had to request the check be brought. Then I waited for 15 minutes before I caught someone else’s attention and asked to pay so we could leave. We were there for 1.5 hours.
The restaurant was busy but not overly so as we were dining after lunchtime. Perhaps they were short staffed? It was not a good experience and I definitely overpaid for the quality and service received. I would not choose to dine here again.

I mainly come for the wine tastings and Chris is one of my favorite servers. He has great suggestions and is very knowledgeable. They also play some great background music giving you a whole chill vibe. The food is also tasty and they have a happy hour at the bar.

Megan, Antoinette & Briana were awesome. Everyone was most accommodating for my party of 8. I am a wine member, experiencing top tier service like that , will keep me coming back.
We are regulars at Short Pump's Cooper's Hawk. We drive from Charlottesville because of the great service, excellent wine tasting, and delicious food. My latest compliments go to Megan, Jaden, Isaiah, Isaac, and Thelonious. Drew and Ricardo are also excellent. We always bring a different crew and are always treated wonderfully! Keep doing what you're doing. We definitely enjoy visiting your establishment! We will see you again on October 4th. Get ready! Thank you for all you do!
