Great atmosphere. Beautiful setting. Parking - great! Service good. Food was not great. Too salty, too oily (I had Chicken Piccata). I couldn't even eat the chicken. Over priced for the quality of food.
WoW! What a hidden gem! Off the beaten Richmond-restaurant path (like the Fan and into the slip) Small Batch is at the Westin hotel, just off Broad in the near west end. It's decor is chic and comfortable. The service, top-notch. But mainly the menu is a wide variety of specialty dishes along with more casual fare, all of which we enjoyed. There were 4 of us and one couple ordered the short ribs, which they declared "the best we've ever had!" And they are seasoned travelers -- from the US West Coast to here on the East Coast -- along with river cruise dining experiences in Europe. So high praise, indeed. The vegetarian in the group also enjoyed the mushroom ravioli... flavorful and a very generous portion. Like cheese? They have some excellent varieties on their cheese platter! Plus! Parking's a breeze, right out front. A truly nice surprise in dining here in town and a great dinner. Kudos to the chef and staff! AA+++
My mother and I visited for the Mother's Day brunch. When we arrived, they had flowers for each woman, even though they were sad, dying roses. Then we were escorted to our table. The tables were nicely prepared with a white tablecloth and court reservation information. The food was not good for the value and prestige of a Westin Hotel location. The breakfast food was powdered eggs ( very runny and cold), frozen pancakes, lukewarm thin slices of bacon, and sausage. You can get all these types of foods at a free hotel breakfast. The other food, the entrees, were bland and just okay. The desserts were lacking in variety and were not tasty at all. The orange juice was absolutely disgusting, and the tea was NOT sweet. The only thing I enjoyed was the salad bar, where I ended up eating two salads because, for the price I paid, I could have taken my mother to the Waffle House or Denny's. Also, the waiter was a bit pushy by giving us our bill early and looking at our table to see if we had paid. Our plates were not taken off our table after we ate, as waiters walked past us and took too long to collect our dishes after we were done. Overall, the food and experience were poor. Will not return for a special occasion.
Overall, it was a pleasant experience. There was a good quantity of food to choose from. Foods that were on the hot bar were lukewarm and I would have liked it to be hotter.
Mother's Day Brunch at the Westin/Small Batch Kitchen was wonderful. The Small Batch restaurant is just off the lobby of the Westin, but when checking in for our reservation we found out they had set up the Mother's Day Brunch Buffet in one of their ballrooms. There was a second podium near the ballroom and they had roses for all the ladies. The room was well set and decorated, with pink napkins and a name card at each table for our reservation. This was a full buffet and well worth the $$ for the occasion. A full breakfast buffet, along with pastries and an omelet station. Then a carving station with Smithfield ham and roast turkey. An additional buffet was set up with hot main course items like vegetables, chicken, salmon, rice, and more. One final station had several really nice dessert items as well. We appreciated the set up of all the buffet areas as they were in different areas of the room allowing for all parties to access what they wanted. There was no crowding or lines for the buffet. Overall, a wonderful atmosphere for the occasion!
Most likely the worst dining experience I've ever had in Richmond in 20 years. Do not go here. The food is terrible and comes out cold and the service is incredibly slow because the hotel refuses to hire more than two servers. Do yourself a favor and eat anywhere on Broad Street except here
Located in the Westin hotel is a farm to table restaurant for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Great service and delicious dishes. The mixologists at the bar can make just about anything. and even made blue cheese stuff olives for a nice dirty martini.
There was no one in the restaurant when we sat down so that is not always a good sign but the food was pretty good. Salmon was cooked to perfection. Overall a good experience.
We had no idea we were eating in the Westin Hotel. The name is deceiving . There were 2 servers present but one server was waiting on all the tables so we were not properly taken care of. My omelette was cold and the toast came out at the end of the meal.
Went for Thanksgiving dinner. Food was ok but really appreciated the staff working on a holiday.

Our overall experience was excellent. The staff did an amazing job for our son's graduation lunch. I believe one of the waitresses name is Tameka. Please, forgive me if I mentioned the name incorrectly. The ambience, decor, food, and staff were all superb!! I will highly recommend “Small Batch Kitchen” to my family and friends. Shout out to the chef for delicious and elegant cuisine. The staff designed and created unique menus and table decor especially for our graduate. It was a pleasure to dine at your restaurant. Kudos for excellent service! R. Brooks

One of the waitresses (black, long braids I believe they were different colors) not sure if she was having a bad day but she snatched a plate from my cousin and was a little rude. The others waitress (black, all black braids) was smart when my mother asked about silverware she didn't see get placed but tried to play it off with a little laugh and joke. Not sure if they do that where she's from but we don't do that HERE
