Lord I’ve been working at the VMFA for 10+ years and the Eatery is known to be employee’s favorite spot to go get food! Why I went and didn’t know they was closed! Can somebody tell me why! I’m hungry!!! Is there a new location? Help me!

Truly great food. Astonishing. The general tsos was biblically good and the portions were massive. Walking into the restaurant feels a bit like that scene in half life 2 where you walk into city 17 but the food was truly something special. Not a day goes by where I don’t miss my meals from this fantastic establishment, although I think I am starting to process that they’ll no longer be with us. I need to learn to cherish my memories and the time I had with their food rather than live to regret that I could never have another meal from them.

Edit…. Below is my review from 4 yrs ago and it still stands. These need to be closed down! Changed to 1 star! Its ok chinese food. I usually get orange chicken and sometimes the chicken is mostly breading and very dry as if its been waiting to be used for weeks... after my last expereince here i will probably give it a few months before i am willing to try again... the quality has gone down over the years!

Fried chicken and General Tso chicken were amazing. I'm from DC so I love that they had mambo sauce.

They're a good, solid place to get Chinese food in Richmond. I just wish they'd bring back Chow Fun noodles, that was my favorite dish to get there!

This place has been dishing out the best fried chicken in the country since the 80s. Get the two piece with fried rice and don’t look back.

I asked for fried rice and I got some type of brown rice that wasn't fried rice and the shrimp was nasty they wasn't all the way cooked the only thing was good was the sauce and broccoli I don't know what happened to this place it used to be decent...

Been eating at this place consistently since 2008. Best take-out Chinese for the entire surrounding area. No frills local spot with a very dated cafeteria-style dine-in motif, but this place absolutely slaps. Taste, portions, speed - they are #1 in every category. Don't be fooled by appearances, this is the spot. You'll come back, I promise.

Great, fresh food! Large portions. Give you twice/3xs as much food as the Chens in Mechanicsville for the same price!

One of my favorite Chinese places in the fan, I recommend the orange or general tso chicken with fried rice, great serving sizes

Let me start by saying I liked the speed, and ease. I got the shrimp lomien and it tasted good but was just shrimp and noodles. The price was a little higher than I thought it should be, but I will probably be back. No frills
