Usually love this place, but they need to have their staff secure their hair so it doesn’t end up an ingredient in the food…

Great Chinese food, served fast. Restaurant has booming music and a young crowd. Hostess promptly seated us at a bar table even though restaurant was crowded. But then we had to put up with two employees who seemed skeptical that we’d been seated by the hostess.

Hey, Fat Dragon, i’m not gonna savage you guys, because I don’t do that. What I have to say comes from a constructive place. You need to do better. Just do better. Your front of house was nice enough, but you need to pay more attention to the people at the table. Details matter. And the dishes were way overloaded with sauce. And why are you serving Ramen with angel hair noodles? And the pot of tea? You’re serving Bigelow teabags that I can get at the grocery store? And you only drop one teabag in the pot? You guys gotta do better if I’m gonna drop $60 there. And guess what? I’m not gonna do that anytime soon again. I think I’m done with you. I hope you do better. It used to be really cool place with good food.

There were three of us and we each ordered differently. One friend ordered appetizers to include fried mushrooms, steamed, dumplings, and green beans. I'm not a big fan of mushrooms but they were delicious. I enjoyed the hot and sour soup and the basil beef lunch entree. My other friend got ramen with shrimp and she loved it and had plenty to take home.
The service was great.

My partner and I stopped in while out and about to try out their happy hour. We had the pleasure of being seated with Kat. She provided amazing service and top knotch recommendations on the food. She was able to give additional information and feedback on each item we ordered which really built our confidence in the product. We had a few apps (definitely get the chili dumplings and Wonton soup). Will definitely join the rotation for best happy hours in Richmond - especially with Kat!!!!

If you find yourself anywhere near Fat Dragon, and you don’t go in you are missing out — and if you do go, you must sit at the bar with Shelby.
This isn’t just a bartender. Shelby is a mixologist, comedian, host, and vibe curator all rolled into one. I came in for a happy hour — I stayed for an extra hour because of her. That’s the kind of magnetic energy we’re talking about.

First: the drinks. I ordered a gimlet and I genuinely believe Shelby has set a new gold standard for what a gimlet should be. Perfectly balanced, refreshingly crisp, and so dangerously good it deserves its own fan club.

Second: the atmosphere. Shelby doesn’t just pour drinks — she pours personality, humor, and pure charisma into every interaction. She’s the kind of person who can turn a random Wednesday into a celebration. By the end of my time there, it felt less like a bar and more like a gathering of instant friends — all because Shelby made it feel that way.

Third: the happy hour itself? Incredible. Delicious food, perfectly priced drinks — but let’s be real, even if it wasn’t, I’d still be raving about it thanks to Shelby’s hosting magic. She made it unforgettable.

TL;DR: If Fat Dragon ever builds a shrine to their all-star bartender, I’ll be the first to donate. Shelby made my night — and honestly, probably my entire week.
Give her a raise. Give her a trophy. Or better yet — give her a crowd, because she’s a show worth coming back for.

Been here Twice and both have been great, food is very flavorful, service is very good and they serve you very fast. They make their own chili paste oil which was perfect on the sesame shrimp. My mouth just watering by thinking of it. It was spicy but I like a good kick. It was a good portion so it we only was able to eat half and the rest was lunch. I will definitely come back for the happy hours

Great service, great menu and they were really good about accommodating most of our food sensitivities and allergies.

Knocked off a food star because one of our party faced very limited choices due to being vegetarian and having a serious allergy. Specifically It would be even better if they served fresh or non-fried tofu to reduce the risk of having vegetarian dishes with cross contamination.

The food was really good. I tried the beef jalapeno fried rice and also sampled some of my children's food. It was a nice atmosphere where I felt relaxed and cozy. There was street parking and we found a spot right away. I would recommend this restaurant and visit again when in town.

Amazing food! Seating is a bit like sardines, but for good cause. Staff are always nice, and check up continually.

:(

The service was good, but I cannot explain the disappointment I felt with the ramen.

First, under the ramen section there are only two “ramens.” The others are lo mein (but they don’t tell you unless you ask). I am not a picky eater, but this is the only time I’ve ever considered sending food back because it was so bad. Given that it was a busy night, I bit the bullet and just didn’t finish the meal. If you are going here for ramen - DON’T! You will leave so sad :(
