Outstanding Mexican food — worth going out of your way
Frida’s is the kind of place that reminds you why great local Mexican restaurants matter. Everything we had was excellent, but a few dishes really stood out.
The birria tacos are a must-order. Perfectly crisp tortillas, generously filled with tender, flavorful beef, fresh cilantro and onion, and served with a rich, deeply seasoned consomé and lime. Dunking those tacos into the broth is next-level comfort food.
We also had a chimichanga smothered in a creamy white sauce, topped with fresh lettuce and tomato, with fluffy yellow Mexican rice on the side. Crispy on the outside, hearty and satisfying inside — pure comfort food done right. The steak and shrimp plate was equally solid: well-seasoned, nicely cooked, and filling without being heavy.
The restaurant has a warm, relaxed vibe, and the service was friendly and attentive without rushing us. Chips and salsa were fresh, the sauces had real heat and flavor, and everything came out hot and well-presented.
If you’re in Virginia and craving Mexican food that’s clearly made with care, Frida’s is absolutely worth the stop. We’ll be back .

Had a group of maybe 15 or so for an after office work party. Service and food were great and they easily accommodated every time someone new arrived. The only problem was that the back area for large groups was very cold! I think it is the same area that's opened through a cargo/garage door during warmer seasons… But we were there during the cold winter and it was too cold for anyone to take their coats off during dinner. Nit frigiy like outside, but my toes were a bit numb by the time the meal was over. I'll still be back though!

I’m almost 50 years old and a I have never experienced a more rude cashier than the little girl behind the counter. I hope the owners teach her about common courtesy in the service industry

I love the food especially the quesabirria tacos. Taco shell so flacky and crunchy. The soup and the tacos so tasty.

First time coming here. Place is decorated really nice with some awesome paintings. We were seated promptly in a booth which actually comfy on my bad back. Waitress really nice, gave us a few minutes to figure out what we wanted. Bought out some chips and salsa. Chips were nice n crunchy and the salsa was very tastey and chunky. My son got the Tierra Y Mar and I got the large Chicken Taco Salad Bowl. We also had Jalapeno Poppers for an appetizer. The poppers were really good. They came out hot and the breading was crunchy. I dont know what kind of sauce was served with them but they complimented them nicely. It was sweet with a little back heat. My sons dish looked awesome and he said it tasted the same. Very large portion. My dish tasted great. The chicken had alot of flavor. The taco bowl was Crispy but flakey. It was a little watered down for my taste compared to other restaurants I have been to but not enough to make a complaint. Not sure if this is just how they make them but we will be returning. Recommend giving them a try. Not sure what we spent as my son took car of the bill.

It's been years since I've been here, we stopped in while we were in the area. The restaurant itself is clean and cozy. It was not busy when we were there and the waitress was friendly and attentive. The food was hot and tasty. I woukd come back if in the area again.

I ordered the Mar y Tierra for lunch and it was absolutely delicious! Fresh shrimp, tender meat, sautéed veggies, and crispy chips all packed with flavor — a perfect combo. I ate it right in my truck on the job site and still felt like I was at a restaurant. Great portions, fresh ingredients, and totally worth it. Highly recommend if you’re looking for real flavor on the go! 🔥🌮🚚

Chips and salsa were great. Im not a fan of chunky salsa but I still liked this, plus they had other salsas you could order. Burrito was good but nothing special
