Came with on Valentine's Day with the family. We brought our two little kids, understanding it wasn't necessarily an environment for that age, and they treated us very well (fortunately the kiddos were on their best behavior, and no screens!). I was very pleased with our meals (lamb bolognese and chicken parm) and cocktails (italian old-fashioned).

Food was alright I suppose. Service was good after being seated, but the seating process was horrible. Place was overbooked and multiple groups (including mine) had to wait in excess of 20 minutes for their reservations. Can't fault the staff, more on the owners or whoever is managing the booking process. Without a guarantee of knowing my reservation is secure, why would I return?

As someone who was brought up italian, this was as good as it gets. The lamb ragu with homade tagliatelle was as good as I've ever had. The wife had the rigatoni rage which was also fantastic. In true Italian tradition both servings were more than we could finish. And to end the meal, the best tiramisu ever. Service was fast, friendly and efficient. The restaurant itself was noisy and cramped but who cares with food this good

3 stars for the incredible food! Service was mid at best. Waited an hour and a half for an appetizer because it got “messed up,” we ordered the mozzarella di buffala so wasn’t exactly sure what went wrong. Main dishes , cocktails, & dessert were great. Server handed us a single check without asking if we wanted separate checks (we did). We couldn’t find our server to flag him down to get it fixed (no worries, it was busy), but the hostess kindly asked us to wrap it up and we relayed that we needed our server to change the checks. We were then given separate checks without verification of what we ordered but we didn’t want to overstay so we ended up paying for things we didn’t order ourselves

Small, cute place with delicious food and large servings. Expect crowds and noise, but good food. My only complaint is that the entrees for our table of 5 came out in waves that spanned over 10 minutes from first to last.

Gersi is one of the best restaurant atmospheres in RVA. Quaint, full of energy, and always classily festive! But on all three trips, the food is missing something. Mushroom bruschetta was barely sautéd. Squid ink pasta’s sauce lacked seasoning. Just foundational things that make the food lackluster. Go for drinks and an app before another meal.

Terrible service and rubbery chicken with pasta that had little flavor. 4 dishes that underwhelmed.

Older small building downtown. I'm all for mood lighting, but it was way too dark. We got there early and it was very loud due to staff still setting up. Waiter forgot to bring silverware after he took it away. No one came back to ask how our food was. There was a long hair in my chicken parm. They offered to remake it, but by then my experience was ruined. Spaghetti in the chicken parm lacked flavor. Cocktails were okay. I asked for a mule because most of their seasonal drinks were gin, bourbon and tequila. I won't be going back.

Absolutely loved this place! The food was delicious, especially the spicy rigatoni vodka, it was incredible! The service was amazing, and the whole atmosphere felt so romantic. From the music to the lighting, everything was just perfect. Can’t wait to come back!

Don’t waste your time or money. The food was average at best, the restaurant was so loud that you can barely talk across the table, and they charged $3.50 for EACH sweet tea (apparently no refills). Very overrated restaurant.

Absolutely the best Italian restaurant in RVA. Go tonight, what are you waiting for?!

Small place and gets loud, but food was fantastic. Did take about 20 mins for them to scroung up change and finalize the bill.
