Govinda Vegan & Vegetarian Restaurant

The food was very good the portion size was great. Not many places in Richmond offer dosa when getting Indian food. Dosa is great visiting in rishikesh so I ordered one here and it was phenomenal. They offer services for the community in the Krishna house behind the building on certain hours. Updated from previous review on 2025-09-21

It says open daily. We stopped by with the family at 6pm today, its closed. Very sad!!

Honestly I just check online ther thali what showing there I got only half of that it’s like food is proper on morning and they server all day but didn’t get what expected not happy but by name of Hare Krishna I m smiling think its donation 😊one roti and small amount of dal how it’s work if you are indian you feel what I mean

Didn’t do too much for me. Appreciate the affordability, but the food seemed like it had been sitting for a while and there was a spice used that reminded me of men’s cologne that I did not love.

I was also approached by someone from Govinda when leaving who was trying to entice me to give money to their charity. I don’t really see many pros to coming back after this experience

It is not a professional restaurant.
It is a volunteers driven organization.
So, keep patience for food service.
It 100% daily, fresh, home cooked indian meals. All vegetarian.
Great taste of Indian meal.

The gentleman (owner I’m guessing) was very kind, but the food was as if it had just been reheated in the microwave. I ordered two side dishes and I’m pretty sure they were frozen microwave dishes. Their menu online is a joke.

I asked if the thali was Gujarati and was told “it’s like Gujarati”. If I didn’t have my kids with me I would have left.

Sounds like this place is hit or miss based on the reviews based on whatever they made the day before or a few days before.
