Govinda Vegan & Vegetarian Restaurant

Delicious and surprising restaurant tucked into Richmond. Food was mostly takeout but they had a few tables too. I got the rice, dal, samosas. All amazing! Only a couple vegetarian items on the menu. Everything else is vegan.

Great food, one dish is a 3 course meal with appetizer, main, and dessert all on one plate. Highly recommend

Somw of the best Indian food in Ricmond. The seating is a little bar bones but that matter.

Just discovered the most WONDERFUL Indian vegan restaurant: GOVINDA. Super delicious. Super cheap. A little hole in the wall off the beaten track with food made from a scratch by priests of the local Hindu Temple. And they donate and personally distribute food to the homeless in Richmond!

The food was very good the portion size was great. Not many places in Richmond offer dosa when getting Indian food. Dosa is great visiting in rishikesh so I ordered one here and it was phenomenal. They offer services for the community in the Krishna house behind the building on certain hours. Updated from previous review on 2025-09-21

The samosas are DELICIOUS! excited to try more off the menu :)

Honestly I just check online ther thali what showing there I got only half of that it’s like food is proper on morning and they server all day but didn’t get what expected not happy but by name of Hare Krishna I m smiling think its donation 😊one roti and small amount of dal how it’s work if you are indian you feel what I mean

Didn’t do too much for me. Appreciate the affordability, but the food seemed like it had been sitting for a while and there was a spice used that reminded me of men’s cologne that I did not love.

I was also approached by someone from Govinda when leaving who was trying to entice me to give money to their charity. I don’t really see many pros to coming back after this experience
