Terrific drinks. A strange setup with a smoking room next to the main room. All of the employees seemed to visit the smoking room and hang out for long occasions. During which time we could see them, but not order drinks. But a great atmosphere and drinks.

My friends and I so enjoyed our evening ! I had the Purple Rein drink with stuffed mushrooms! Awesome! For dinner I had the seared tuna; it was beautifully plated. Our server was the BEST! Friendly , helpful and so fun! We dined on a Wednesday and found it to be charmingly relaxing but we did cause a lot of laughter in our area as the evening was so fun! Definitely a great place to visit!

I always enjoy bringing friends here, especially for their first time, I think everyone has really enjoyed it. I'm always amazed at how reasonably priced the food is and how good it is and they have a wonderful liquor menu too.

Grandstaff & Stein is a gem for that special night out. The food always delivers, especially the Filet which is my favorite. Their drink menu will impress those looking for something fun.

We were on our way North and decided to overnight in Richmond. Had two recommendations for this place, so we tracked it down, entered with the password, and enjoyed the evening. Dinner was delish and the drinks were clever. Loved the atmosphere. We were dressed casually but it would have been fun to dress for the 20's. Enjoyed the evening.

We went to Grandstaff & Stein on July 12, 2025 for dinner for my husband's birthday. It was amazing!! Everything was great!! The food was seasoned perfectly and the drinks were catered to your liking. We both agreed it's worth another visit.
We arrived about 5:10pm and we were seated pretty easily, we have been coming to this restaurant for years and have always had a great experience. This last time Saturday the 12th I bring my pregnant wife so we can have a good dinner and after being seated it kinda went down hill from there, we put a order in for a appetizer which was great and a couple drinks. The mixed drink I wanted they couldn't make because they didn't have the proper liquor and the next option was terrible, we put our food order in and requested our steaks to come medium well and after a 20 to 30 min wait food came out and steaks were rare. I didn't mind mine but my wife can't have rare meat while pregnant so we had to wait about additional 10 min for our waitress to come back and check to see if our meals were correct. When the waitress finally came back to check I was close to being done while my wife was still hungry and we showed her the steak in 1 section where we cut down the middle and showed her it was rare and wanted it fixed, she promptly told us that it would be at least a 6 min wait. We said go ahead and have it fixed, waitress came back 2 min later and said they fixed it and that the cook said it's not blood in the steak it's a dye. She had left again and then my wife cut steak up into pieces and there was no difference in steak as it actually looked like they didn't do anything to it at all, so approximately 12 min go by and waitress comes back and we showed her the steak and how there is no difference and it's is cooked rare. I told her that we were not happy with this and she asked if we wanted something else so we ordered a different kind of steak, that order took about 25 min to wait for it and we just got it to go at this point. We ended up leaving the restaurant about 7pm or close to it, very unpleasant experience that night as most of our time was waiting and we had spent about 2 hours there. As many times as we have been there this is by far the worst.

We were in on a Monday night for a business dinner and it was very quiet, as Mondays tend to be. I thought the food was really great -- the pork loin and mashed potatoes hit the spot. Drink list was inventive and creative, but I'd say I was fine on the two I ordered. They weren't great but didn't knock my socks off. I'll be back to try out some more of the menu though, as food and atmosphere both his the spot

Our server was amazing and very helpful and thoughtful. We took our time enjoying the fabulous cocktails and didn't feel rushed. Plenty of suggestions from our server, but I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menus. Love the speakeasy vibe!

I have walked by this place so many times and always wondered why don't I see anyone inside? Well I got my answer!!! It was an amazing vibe, quaint and tucked away so that we could experience the scene! The ambiance is ideal for a date night or like us ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION. The food was amazing, service was decent, but honestly nothing to complain about. I read the reviews ahead of time about staffing so we were prepared. We will return!!!

We had a party of 6 for dinner. 3 people ordered alcoholic beverages; 1 person ordered a mocktail. 2 of the 3 alcoholic drinks were not satisfactory; the additional alcoholic beverage and mocktail were quite good. We ordered 2 appetizers - both were incredibly bad with 1 being inedible - several people tried it and no one liked it so not a matter of preference. We ordered 6 different entrees. The chicken piccata arrived with a dry chicken breast - nothing else. Shrimp and grits were ok - nothing special; a bit bland. Crab cakes were acceptable. Steak was good. Chicken parmesan was ok - very little pasta with a ton of red pepper flakes so spicy but not really flavorful. Gnocchi was evidently the same - loaded with red pepper flakes, no other flavor. I was surprised as this restaurant claimed to be "fine dining." Hostess was very nice. Waiter acted like we were an inconvenience. Almost $300 tab for sub par food and bad service. Very disappointed.
