I’ve taken sometime to write this review as our wedding was in December 2021, but I thought it was important.Firstly, the staff was fantastic throughout our whole experience (five star service to the bar and wait staff at our wedding). The private tasting was so delicious that when I was full and said so, the event coordinator told me it’s just a tasting and I didn’t have to eat it all. LOL.The only thing we didn’t like was the fake grilled favor on the steak, but she wrote the change down.We had local charcuterie for cocktail hour. A fully opened bar for both cocktail hour and the wedding. We got steak, Tuscan chicken(both in sauces), SMASHED garlic potatoes, two veggies and Mac and cheese.We also chose an oyster mushroom soup(our very favorite at the tasting).. Chicken nuggets and sides for the few kids that came. We had guests come from all over the country and bragged to them about how delicious our tasting was. We thought-this isn’t just wedding food, it’s wonderful and we can’t wait for our guest to try it.On the wedding day the food was sadly nothing like the tasting. Everything was bland, the smashed/mashed potatoes were sliced and dry and everythingggg was cold. Even our FAVORITE, the soup was off. My husband and I looked at each other and both said, “Wow, what a let down.” We had several people come up to us and tell us it was cold. One person joked, saying “I thought y’all said this was so good.” One parent said their kid wouldn’t eat because their food was too cold. I didn’t say anything to the staff that night because it was my wedding day and I didn’t want to have an upsetting conversation, but it was embarrassing and hurtful. I still think about it now in 2023 from time to time.

We had a wonderful experience having Groovin Gourmet cater our wedding this past September! From the very beginning, Kaylyn was super informative and quick to respond to our emails. We were going back and forth between a lot of ideas and she helped us make the best informed decisions that fit with our vision as well as our budget. She was flexible and found ways to make our nontraditional requests possible. As for the day of the wedding, the staff were literally the sweetest. I remember during cocktail hour when I was getting so many pictures taken, one of the staff members went out of her way to make sure I had hors d’oeuvres to eat and a drink in my hand. As the bride and groom it’s easy to forget to eat, but we felt taken care of by them. They nailed the set up for dinner and were quick to accommodate the inclement weather. The cherry on top, our guests were raving about how good the food was! We really felt like Groovin had our back and would highly recommend them!

Kaylyn was such a pleasure to partner with and provided the guidance I needed to ensure I made the right selections, ordered the correct quantity and provided thoughtful suggestions I hadn't thought of to elevate my event.The three ladies that came to set up this massive event were extremely polite, hard working, fast and had it down to a science. I just stayed out of the way while they worked their magic. Lastly, the food was perfection. We had a Thanksgiving themed lunch and every dish from the turkey/ham to the vegetarian/vegan entrees to the gluten free options to the decadent desserts were delicious. Groovin' will be our go to for future catering needs. Thank you for the incredible food and wonderful memories!

Planning a wedding is a tedious and overwhelming task that I thought I was ready for but I quickly realized that I had no idea what I was walking into. The most daunting aspect quite possibly has to be picking a caterer. There only seems to be a million of them and there’s so many options and it’s so dang expensive. My fiancé and I decided early in the planning process that if something felt right, we weren’t going to over think it or keep looking for other options, we were just going to go with what made us comfortable. God smiled down on us and I began corresponding with Kaylyn at Groovin’ Gourmet. From our first phone call, she made me feel comfortable and at ease. I immediately felt like I was in a seasoned professionals hands. I trusted her before I even chose Groovin. Kaylyn is 90% of why I chose to go with this company. And then we got to do our tasting and we were even more impressed! From the beginning of the process all the way thru and on to wedding day and then after, we were just continually pleased and pleasantly surprised. Surely everything can’t go 100% right but it absolutely did. And if it didn’t, we had no idea! We have received nothing compliments from all of our friends on how amazing their food was (we served a plated dinner with filet, crab cakes or chicken as the options). We had a few gluten free meals and those folks have all come to us and told us how delicious their meals were and how professionally Groovin handled their special meals. If you are considering Groovin Gourmet, stop looking, stop considering other places, just sign the contract now and pray that you get to work with Kaylyn. However, as well oiled of a machine as this company is, I’m sure everyone there is just as wonderful. If you’re in the beginning of the planning process, I promise you won’t be disappointed with this company! I wouldn’t change anything.

Used for my daughter's wedding. We were sold by Grant, who was let go suddenly after signing contract, doing tasting, given all our notes and specific requests for the wedding, including some recipes for signature cocktails. Extremely disappointed. Have so many issues that I am too emotionally upset about to mention. The catering staff working the event were awesome. One of the servers even got out on the dance floor and danced. The servers and bartender were excellent. We actually hired and paid for two bartenders, but only saw one. Absolutely cannot recommend using this caterer. My issues are lengthy. I am extremely disappointed and angry, so this review is an understatement. To go deeper into the issues coming off my daughter's wedding weekend will have me using profanity, as this is how disgusted by the caterer I am. The servers are superb. Everyone else is lacking, including the food. The hot food was served cold. Many guests had to wait 20-30 minutes for their plated meal. The chicken sandwiches served as a late night snack were repulsive overcooked rubber with caramelized onions instead of the pickles that we ordered and paid for. I despise Groovin Gourmet and give them zero stars -- two stars for the actual servers that are contract workers, as my understanding. The girl that took Grant's place showed up unprepared for planned meetings not knowing any details claiming she was too busy to review our file. It only went from bad to worse after being sold on a great catering company by Grant, who was professional and appeared to be on top of the details. Angela was not. I am so upset and very angry. Don't use them is my best advise. So many great options in Richmond with talented and professional chefs, caterers. My advice is skip this place and find one that actually cares and delivers. My repulsion for this caterer is passionate, as I sent countless emails and meetings with specific details reviewed. Having worked in the industry for almost 30 years and having had a catering and event business myself in DC, I was on point and clear -- even reviewing what I didn't want to have happen. This place is worse than terrible.

Our son went into the Navy so we threw him a going away party. Groovin Gourmet exceeded our expectations in every way possible! The food was incredible the set up and delivery were fantastic, perfect and on time. Michelle was great to work with and the whole experience was easy and smooth! The tasting ahead of the wedding was really helpful - it gave us the opportunity to make changes, ask questions, and generally get things right for the big day. There was one hiccup: we had confirmed a vegan sauce for one of the appetizers, which was switched out (unbeknownst to us) on the day for a non-vegan option, which was a real bummer as that was our only vegan appetizer. Other than that, catering was a success.
