The food was good. Drinks were good. Service was good. It always is. The portions were quite small, and we aren't big eaters. The beet salad was particularly modest. We had one small piece of beet. Honestly, it felt as if we were being driven to order dessert.
Eating at Helen's is like having a genuine curated restaurant experience. The owner is on staff and works just as hard as any of her fabulous employees. The warmth and and ambience are palpable. The food is not only creative but delicious. And the staff is extremely professional, bright and witty. I can't say enough good things about Helen.
We checked Open Table, and saw availability for every later time spot, didn't make a rez. Show up, and they acted like no tables were available (3 were vacant), but maybe they had staff call out. Anyway. Then made a rez for 25 min later on open table. They approached us and said the last table was taken by a Rez, I say yeh, that was me. Went to the bar to get a drink while waiting for the Rez time, and got ignored . The bartender who may have been a manager seemed hocked...
