Really hoping this is a one-off experience but I was very excited to come here and everything was “meh”.
We tried the garlic shrimp, ham croquettes, and fried potatoes. Good portions for tapas but the flavors were just fine. Very standard. Drinks were a bit watered down and the flavors were a bit muted.
They may have been understaffed, which I get but everyone was visibly flustered. We also had to ask for plates / utensils multiple times and didn’t get them until the end of our meal (just used our hands). Overall the experience was off.
May come back in a few months to try again. Hoping it’s just new restaurant opening pains.

Our favorite restaurant. We have been numerous times for dinner and have gone to two wine tasting dinners that were absolutely fantastic. We have just returned from a few days in Barcelona, where we ate out for every meal. In the heart of Barcelona, we found nothing to compare to this gem of a restaurant 3 blocks from our home.

Fantastic happy hour - try the Malaga Style Sangria! We sat at the bar, and checked out the heated rooftop…will definitely sit up there next time. The drinks and tapas were so tasty, and the staff were friendly. Looking forward to dining at Importante Bodega Bar, again, soon!

I popped in here with a friend for a quick drink and to try a couple tapas. We had never heard of it before and were excited to try. That excitement quickly died. The drinks we ordered just tasted like sour mix. The food was truly absurd. We were served 6 cold pieces of bread with maybe a teaspoon of chorizo and just a thin slice of cheese that was barely melted. That was $12.95. I didn’t take a picture because I didn’t plan to leave a review. They were out of several things. Including their most popular dish. The service was slow and there wasn’t even a host at 6:30 on a Sunday evening. I do not recommend wasting your money here. I truly do not know where these 5 star reviews came from.

Perfect place for lovers of good food. A European island of choice and quality dishes in Virginia. For the right price in the USA you will finally be able to eat real Spanish ham and high quality tapas with a choice Spanish but also French wine list. And with real bread. The bartender is also a great liqueur connoisseur. Thank you for this reference which was missing in Virginia.

All I can say is WOW!! Lu is one of the best bartenders I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing in my life. His knowledge of spirits, beer and cocktails is unmatched. He’s incredibly friendly and I love the energy he had behind his bar and the friendly banter between his coworkers. I can tell he really loves this job and his fellow employees! The food only continues to amplify the atmosphere. Having a great, knowledgeable and upbeat bartender and good food is a hard combo to find in Richmond.
