I’m deeply disappointed with my recent experience at Kabana Rooftop, a place that used to be my favorite for celebrating life’s big moments—birthdays, New Year’s, Halloween, or even a casual night out. My fiancé and I have shared so many memories there, so he chose this spot to propose two Fridays ago, arranging for friends, decorations, and a photographer to make it special. But Kabana let us down, and in some ways, I feel they ruined what should have been a beautiful day with confusion and frustration over the poor service.
First, the server assigned to our tables quit that day, and no one replaced them. Instead of enjoying the moment with me, my fiancé had to handle food and drink orders, trying to figure out what was going on, as no one from the staff stepped in to take care of us. The food took over an hour to arrive, leaving everyone hungry and making the whole evening feel disorganized.
To add to the disappointment, a photographer at the venue took a few photos of me and my friends and later tried to sell them to us. I was willing to buy a couple , but the photos were poorly taken and not worth the money they wanted. Since we were already dealing with the server incident and had just gotten engaged there, I thought they might give me one as a gift, especially because it had the Kabana watermark, which would have made a nice memento. However, it didn’t seem they cared about making the night special, even after bringing a large party and a significant amount of business to the venue .As a professional photographer myself, I can say the photo quality was low and not worth the $30 they wanted, especially for something that could have been easily taken on my phone.
This experience left me feeling confused and disappointed, trying to understand why nothing was going as planned. After so many special moments at Kabana Rooftop, this night changed how I see them. My fiancé even emailed them about our disappointment a week ago, and they haven’t responded, so I decided to share my experience here since they aren’t willing to apologize at least .
Please be careful when choosing Kabana Rooftop for your special occasion—you don’t want your event to be ruined like mine was. I’ll be taking my business to other rooftops in Richmond from now on.

Disappointing experience. The food and drinks were underwhelming. Our order took a long time to arrive, and they even forgot one of our dishes—despite the place not being busy. The only highlight is the beautiful rooftop view, but unfortunately, that’s about all they have going for them.

We went for drag brunch. First doors were suppose to be open at 12:45. Did not open till after 1. Second the women bathroom was gross. No TP and TP and water all over the floor. I told two people about this and nothing. Second the brunch.... my suggestion eat before you come. They say bottomless but they do not refill. Also they put the food in a room with no lights, food is not labeled so some of the food u had no idea what it was, they did not put the proper utensils out to get sauces, they left all the tops on the food so it held up line and the line could not flow, so people were bumping into each other. It's like they never done this before. And the food was not good. It's brunch, so I am not sure how they manages to produce what they did because it was aweful. Third, drinks way over priced. We did purchase some drinks before we got there so I am thankful for that. Forth, the show was great and the views were wonderful.I will probably never attend a brunch here ever again.

Great view. Sexy space. Friendly bartender, unfortunately inexperienced and lacking proper training. Place is poorly managed and lacks efficiency. Food & Drinks were wrong & bad.

Really pretty place great for Dates and get togethers. At around 11 it turns into a club so if the DJ is good you will have fun. Drinks were pricey and just ok but the snacks were good ( wings fries). But it's great nightlife scene of Richmond at a beautiful 20th story rooftop.

A Beautiful night makes rooftop bars quite special. We had to get our own drinks at the bar. They slipped an unnoticed18% tip onto our tab without telling us; so they got a really big (undeserved) tip. Did I say the drinks were expensive? But I guess that is big city rooftop prices. We did not get any food.

Yikes! The poor reviews were right. I’m not sure if this place is facing closure? The service was so bad. There were only a couple customers there and the service was non existent. The mix drinks were very poorly made. And let’s not forget the 18% they automatically charge for tips on all bills!! Yikes ?

We wandered into a private event , so we had to pay $20 pp at the door … upon realizing that all the seats were reserved for the event we requested a refund . However our request was denied . We were then accommodated with chairs set up at the bar where I had the WORST Amaretto Sour in the history of Amaretto sours .. The menu only consisted of chicken wings , fries and mozzarella sticks .. which we did not bother to order …15 minutes and $60 later we left .. SMH
