This will be a mixed review, but honest. There are some great people that work at Kabana's so I don't blame them for how management handles things. Sophia, Ryan and one of the other primary bartenders ( young lady worked Thursday and Friday).This place has so much potential and I hope things improve. It truly does have spectacular views and amazing sunsets, but things have fallen off the ledge since our last visit during March of 2023.The group I was traveling with insisted we stay at the Hampton Inn/ Homewood Suites because of the great time we had a year prior at Kabana's. That was not the over all case this time, causing many to drift across the street.The lack (none) of wait staff to take food or drink orders, no draft beers on tap even though they had about 4 to 5 tap handles still attached, limited beer selection by the bottle/can. Very slow bar service at some busy times because there was only 1 bartender catering to a lot of people. You can't Blame the bartender for not having help, they are taking food and drink orders.Food was ok, it wasn't terrible, but not what I remember from our past visit.One thing I was told multiple times was that it was Still off season, but when you have both the Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites sold out 3 weekends in a row for the Jefferson Cup soccer and cos-play event at the convention center someone should pat attention to this and maybe adjust staffing, maybe communicate with the hotel a little even thought the hotel and Kabana's are separate operations. It's just a thought for the future.Again, great people working there for daily operations but tings need to improve over all.

Drag Brunch featuring Melanin Monroe was one of the best events I've attended at Kabana. Everyone had an amazing time. The service, dj, and drinks were excellent. The brunch was pretty basic, French toast, berry pancakes, bacon, sausage, and eggs. It was buffet style.

Kabana is a blight on downtown and an obstacle to the future of the city. This place needs to be shut down and replaced by something that will actually add value.

We were here to celebrate with two friends for their birthday. We were immediately sat with the wrong party group and we did not even get asked our name or who the reservation was under just ushered to the wrong table. After we found our group things were great we enjoyed the music the food was limited at 9:44p but was still amazing for wings. We enjoyed the crowd and the music kept us dancing all night long which was excellent. 5 out of 5 can't wait to do it again. Oh the drink of choice for me was the Good vibes only it has a spicy ? kick and I loved it! Reasonable pricing great wait staff.

Go for one drink and the view. You'll be there a while because the service is super slow. They also have a service fee that they don't tell you about and paying on Toast defaults to tipping in addition to the tip that is already there from the service fee. Sketchy. In my experience too the server didn't have an understanding of.tje menu.
The view on the riverside is extremely nice and watching the sunset was great. It is a nice place to get a few drinks and just hang out. I ordered from the bar and had no issues with getting drinks. It also wasn't too busy so I was served fairly quickly.

I was really excited to go here for a friend’s bday. I hadn’t been to any of the rooftop bars in RVA. What I liked…the bouncer was nice and checked everyone for weapons upon entry. Sad but necessary these days. The Dj played a great mix that should appeal to all ages. The outdoor space was great. Gave a low rating overall bc the ladies bathroom was out of tp in all but one stall. The bartender at the outdoor bar either is lazy or not a good bartender (very muscular guy with metallic pink shirt on). We got there before it was crowded. There was no one waiting for drinks and when we approached and asked what his signature drink is, he advised us not to order the specialty cocktails it’s best to just order drinks with one liquor and one mixer. What??? He said it’s easier and faster. That was all I needed to hear to know I wouldn’t be impressed with anything this guy made so we went to the inside bar. I ordered a berry mojito and husband a regular mojito. The female bartender was nice but I’ve never seen anyone make a drink more slowly in my life…. I’m guessing she was new which is understandable. The drink was good, not great. We saw a guy working the indoor bar with her that must’ve made drinks for 8 people in the time it took her to make ours. He had on a Hawaiian shirt and his cocktails looked amazing. We didn’t end up ordering anything else bc the first round had been so much trouble..,and it was $35 for the 2 drinks. Not sure I’ll be going back but I’m glad I went to check it out at least once.

One star is honestly being a little generous for the way my partner and I were treated at Kabana. I made a reservation for August 22nd for a high top table on the balcony to celebrate my 21st birthday. We were never greeted by a host, and instead a bartender yelled across the room for us and another group to find a table on our own. We walked around looking for an available high top only to find they were all occupied, so we went to the host stand and the girl brought us to a lounge section. I wasn’t too bothered by that, but it wasn’t what I reserved, so they obviously weren’t prepared for us. We were told a server would be with us shortly or we had the option to go to the bar ourselves. We looked over the menu and waited about 20 minutes, no one came over or even looked our way, so we went to the bar to order. The bartenders seemed annoyed and only took my boyfriends order at first, completely ignoring me. We also placed a food order at the bar and waited a half hour before asking about it and being told “there’s just a really long list of food orders” we waited another half hour, and in that time a table of two was sat beside us and heavily tended to. Their server must have checked on them four times and never once acknowledged us. We eventually got fed up and went to the manager to express our frustration. We were very civil about it but the manager didn’t really seem to care that much. She offered to comp our check and gave us free reign of the bar. We declined and decided to leave instead, but after checking his account later that night my boyfriends card had been charged for everything. I would not have minded paying for the check if the experience was better and we were not ignored or treated as a nuisance the entire night.
