My go-to place for tacos in RVA. They make the best tacos in town and I've been going here since I moved back to the area a few years ago. The lengua tacos are my favorite and they taste so fresh.

Delicious food, great service, and fun events! I participated in several Día De Los Muertos events organized by Kahlo's and was thrilled to meet the owner, who is everything a local business owner ought to be: kind, driven, and makes a burrito bigger than your head! Highly recommended!!

recently visited Kahlos with high hopes, especially because of the vegan options they offer. As someone who is lactose intolerant, I ordered the vegan queso, assuming it would be a safe choice. Unfortunately, shortly after eating it, I began to feel extremely unwell. I had a severe allergic reaction and was rushed to the hospital.

To make matters worse, no one at the restaurant could provide me with a clear list of ingredients for the vegan queso. For anyone with dietary restrictions or allergies, this lack of transparency is concerning. I would strongly advise that Kahlos make ingredient information readily available and train staff to answer these critical questions.

The margaritas were enjoyable, but until the restaurant addresses ingredient transparency, I can’t recommend it to anyone with food allergies or intolerances.

We adore Khalos. The food is incredible (highly recommend the barbacoa tacos for dinner and the chilaquiles for brunch) and I think they particularly excel at more traditional dishes. If you are coming for just your average Tex-mex, as some of the negative reviews seem to expect, this is not the place 😊

We’ve been here probably 10-15 times and while we love the food, drinks, atmosphere and staff, the service is predictably and painfully slow, no matter how busy they are. It can be hard to want to come here, especially with kids, for this reason. We love you Kahlo’s and hope this is something you all can resolve so we can visit more frequently!

Kid-friendliness: We love the food here but the service can at times be slow for small attention spans. Come with coloring, toys, etc.

Don't think I've ever had tacos this bland before.

Such a cute spot with such potential, but their alcoholic drinks are basically just fruit juice. I’m extremely sensitive to alcohol, and their “alcoholic” drinks have none. Decent food, but will never again order a drink from them. This is a multiple time experience by the way.

They tacos I had were very greasy.. I like mine a little on the crunchier side. The service was ok but the servers weren’t as attentive. Not saying they were bad they just need a little more to this place. I love the atmosphere and the set up of course

STAY AWAY from Khalo’s Churchill—a nightmare

I wanted to much to love and support this family-owned restaurant. But everything was horrible. We considered many times walking out, but stuck it through and even paid for everything at the end, even though I didn’t end up eating anything. I left with a stomach ache and a bad taste in my mouth.

Waited for out food for close to 2 hours and then got served cold, bland food, wrong items, bad margaritas (syrupy sugar water with no sign of alcohol ($16).

After being seated and waiting for a long time without water or chips, we found out we were not assigned a server. A server nearby noticed and offered to take our order, then came back 20 mins later saying she lost our ticket. We put our entire order in again. The server warned us the kitchen is having issues so the wait for food was going to be long. Still, our food came out cold and appetizer didn’t make it to the table after food and drinks (after another reminder to the server). I was served meat when I asked for vegetarian potato tacos. I spit it out and didn’t eat another bite.

We felt bad for the server who was nice yet inexperienced to deal with all the restaurants issues.

The owner was shmoozing with friends ant the bar and not attending to servers who needed help or tables who needed food.

They said I was:
Uneducated and just looking for a free meal
(Somehow) racist against her undocumented immigrant mother (i never mentioned citizen status and I also come from a immigrant family)

“I bet you can’t even have kids” (what an out of left-field direct quote, very thinly veiled fat-phobia) while looking pointedly at my stomach
The son said many racist things and that he was going to call the cops on me even though he was not my server and I didn’t address him.

All inappropriate, outright oppressive, and unprofessional.

Vegetarian options: Was served chicken taquitos instead of potato taquitos. I spit it out and could not eat anything. Left with a stomach ache. Margaritas also gross and lacking alcohol. NOT authentic Mexican food.
