The food and service is really good. Comparable to a place I went to in Pensacola. The building is old but large. The atmosphere is fun just wish the ceiling height was a little higher. Can feel a little tight compared to other hibachi.

I recently visited Kanpai Japanese Steakhouse and, unfortunately, my experience was disappointing especially regarding how my food allergy was handled. I have a dairy allergy, which includes reactions to products like margarine, and I made sure to communicate this clearly. I’ve dined here multiple times in the past and have never had an issue with my meal being prepared safely or with staff accommodating my needs. That’s why this visit was especially surprising.

When I asked whether certain dishes could be prepared without dairy or margarine, the manager responded in a curt and unhelpful way, giving the impression that my concerns were an inconvenience. Instead of offering alternatives or confirming ingredients, I was met with frustration and a lack of willingness to assist. As someone with a serious allergy, this was unsettling. A restaurant should make every customer feel safe and respected, especially when health concerns are involved.

The rest of the staff was pleasant, but the manager’s behavior overshadowed the experience. Allergies require careful attention, and I expected a more understanding and professional approach especially in a restaurant where ingredients like butter and margarine are commonly used on the grill.

I hope Kanpai Japanese Steakhouse will take this as constructive feedback. Improving communication, showing empathy toward guests with dietary restrictions, and offering clear ingredient guidance would make a major difference. With better customer care and more attention to allergy safety, the dining experience could be much more positive for everyone.

My daughter and I were eating in tonight . We were arranged to be sitting with some other guests together . The person who was cooking always gives the food to the other guests first , and we got their leftover . We got the minimum although we paid the same amount.

We had never been to this restaurant and wanted to try something different for a special occasion. First, we made reservations and the place was very busy so we were glad we had called ahead and we didn’t have to wait very long at all. It was only two in our party. They sat us and as we walked to our spot, we could see the place was very busy and so many people were having a good time. As we waited for our drinks, we got to see the other grill settings and how much fun the table was having with their chefs. The show is part of the main event when choosing to eat at a Japanese Steakhouse. Unfortunately, our chef had no personality and was wearing a mask. He totally ruined our experience. I will say the food was very good, but watching the other tables and the fun they were having versus what we were experiencing at our table….night and day! So disappointed in the chef which really left us feeling bad about our choice of where we chose to eat for a special day.

They shut the to go orders off 2 hrs before close. They wouldn't server me food at the bar. They blow. I'm not sure how the food is because I never had a chance to try it.

Definitely one of the nicer hibachi restaurants. It was very busy but I was still able to be seated immediately (myself and a guest). Food was very good and the chef was definitely entertaining.
