Would not recommend I make peanut stew myself as well as often go to African on Main, but they were not open on this Sunday. I ordered the goat stew with fufu, as well as the chicken stew with fufu nd bones. literally the backs of chicken bones and goat bones, not a meat or piece of meat in sight, and not only that the stew itself was just spicy no peanut flavor no seasoning flavor not even an inch of salt. I can’t believe I ordered from this place will never do it again
The food was not what I expected since I grew up eating Nigerian food my parents cooked. I ordered chicken stew and fufu and the soup was just broth. It was nothing I could dip the fufu in. I also ordered 3 plates of jollof rice, chicken and fish. The rice I could not eat and the food was not fresh. I had to throw all the food away. A waste of $72 dollars.

It was my first time going there. The young lady that took my order was very friendly and very helpful. I felt welcomed. The music that was playing was very nice. The atmosphere was very relaxing and the restaurant was very clean. The food was very delicious. Lizzy's African Restaurant, keep the great job.

I would NOT recommend. Family of 5 spent approx. $130 and three-quarters of the food ended up in the trash. PROS: Fried tilapia and croaker were both outstanding, very good egusi goat soup. great bottled drink selection. CONS: Jollof rice tasted scorched, the egusi stews (chicken and goat) both tasted of fish and were VERY oily. Could only stomach a few bites of the chicken stew. Took the remaining goat stew home and when reheating, noticed prickly black goat hairs still attached to the meat! I was grossed out and immediately started dry-heaving (which was what prompted me to write this review). CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE: Service was terrible. Horrible. No one greeted us. As first-timers, we seated ourselves and after 10 mins realized no one was going to come over. Had to approach the young man sitting idly behind the counter about placing an order, and removing the dirty cup left on the table from prior guests. He apologized, but made NO effort to come clean the table. Mind you, it was a slow Sunday evening and only 2 other tables were occupied. The older gentlemen who served the food was kind and professional. However, no one followed up to see if we were satisfied or needed anything additional. We removed the dirty cup and fetched additional napkins OURSELVES. Interestingly enough, the older woman attended to one particular table TWICE. (I'll reserve my thoughts on why). On a positive note, I enjoyed the upbeat music. FYI, you pay for the meal at the kiosk monitor when you place your order, so I tipped as I always do. Wish I could undo that!!!!!!!

Really enjoyed this restaurant. The environment was very welcoming and food was great. I enjoyed the goat meat soup it was very flavorful and just a little bit of heat. I also enjoyed the customer service it was pleasant. I liked the fact there are many options and the food was served on time. I don't live in the area but don't mind coming back in the future!

Restaurantji Recommends
In Richmond for a few days and I decided on wanting to try to authentic African food. So I found this place not too far from me and it’s a gem! The place is very true to its roots and shares a true Ghanaian experience. The restaurant is very clean and is very organized. Now the food I tried Fufu and the Goat Egusi stew and the stew was chef kiss!! I also got Jollof rice which I think was a lil over cooked but still good. Other than that I believe this place is really good and I will be back!
