Marylous Soul Dining Experience

Friend and I went for lunch. We arrived about 3:45 and we were seated immediately. Our waitress came out we ordered drinks. Drinks were decent 4/5. She brings the drinks out and starts out by saying "I apologize" but the cook is prepping for dinner so he will not be serving food at the moment but y'all are welcomed to wait. My mouth hit the floor because ONE where is that on the menu NOT LISTED. Two you waited until we were ready to order to tell us that. The waiter/waitress should've been prepared to tell customers that. Being that it is a new restaurant and you're trying to build GOOD service. I feel like you should make sure that you are doing just THAT. We did wait because at that point we had 2 drinks and really wanted to try the food. The food was 3.9/5 the food was good. The customer service would be my only reason for not going back.

First time visiting for brunch and let me tell you, this place is a whole vibe. Love the decor, friendly staff and delicious food. Their dinner menu looked just as delicious. I'm looking forward to going back.

I celebrated my client appreciation brunch here yesterday. I was blown away by the amazing service we received. The staff were pleasant, attentive and accommodating. I ordered the catch of the day which happened to be the Best catfish I ever had! If you have an upcoming corporate event don’t hesitate with giving Marylous a call.

Its cute. That’s it. Not hospitable. Didn’t even get the chance to try the food because of the limited choices and the staff themselves were not helpful

Ehh food was flavorless. The catfish could’ve been fried harder. The mashed potatoes needed seasoning and it tasted instant. That gentlemen’s choice drink needs to be taken off the menu. I don’t think I’ll be back but the server was nice

On Saturday I attended my friend's birthday brunch. Upon arrival, my friend was upset because her reserved room wasn't available. Resolving this issue took 1 hour. We then shared a room with another group, squeezing into two tables until they left. Unfortunately, the room smelled of feces. Brandon offered a complimentary mimosa. The wait was so long that my friend went to her car and got chips. Our food finally arrived; the chicken and waffles were good, but the home potatoes were hard, like potato chips. We arrived at 12 pm and departed at nearly 4 pm due to the terrible service. No discount was offered to us and had an automatic gratuity. I will never return here and definitely wouldn’t recommend it to anyone else.

My family and I were disappointed with our recent dining experience at Mary Lous. Despite having a 7 PM reservation, we encountered significant delays and subpar service. The restaurant appeared to be understaffed, leading to long wait times for drinks and a chaotic atmosphere. Additionally, the strong scent of candles used to mask other odors was unpleasant. While our server, Crystal, was apologetic and did her best, the overall experience fell short of our expectations. We ultimately decided to leave and dine elsewhere.

This is the most amazing place i have ever seen from the greeting from the amazing employees to the food which I was speechless afterwards and wanted to go kiss the cooks!!!! As well as the owner is incredibly nice!!! If I could give more stars I would!!!

The service was not good.there should be a dress code for servers. The food was very good. My son and his wife will not go again. I will give them a chance again. The server we get it was not her table but she was great

This restaurant has all the ingredients to be great. As you walk in, you're immediately taken in by the decor and atmosphere. Music is on point, great mix of neosoul new and old. You're immediately greeted by excellent servers and they continue to entertain and provide great service. The drinks? 🙌🏾. And the food? Pretty good! We had the cornbread, mac and lamb chops, and the mac may be the best in the city (not saying that much) ... The only thing this restaurant is punctuality. It takes wayyy too long to get your good. Otherwise hoping this place fixes that the one issue.

As a person who loves to patronize good soul food spots I was eager to see what MaryLous had to offer. I was unsure of reservation since it shows reservation ended at 3PM on Sat. ....so I just decided to ask the front host. Are reservations needed to be seated? The reply from the possible teenager girl who spoke under her breath was a rude "I'm not seeting anyone now" ......like What? And no information after. I won't be back.

BOMB!! The food here is pretty good. Good Mac n cheese, cornbread is moist, fried chicken was good, catfish nuggets were seasoned well, and they have caramelized Brussel sprouts. You should definitely try this place. Better than other soul food restaurants in Richmond. Can't wait to try their other dishes.

I attended the debate watch party at Marylous tonight. The food was absolutely amazing. The mac/cheese, catfish nuggets, roasted brussel sprouts and corn bread was prepared with perfection. The bar back drop deco was beautiful. The ambiance of the restaurant was superb and staff extremely kind. I will definitely patronize this restaurant again . Extremely impressive!
