We haven't eaten here in awhile. We come for the cornbread, good stuff. The shimp mix Appy. was good and plenty of it. Bread was so,so just big holes in it, couldn't get more of that dip on it.lol Wife had the the smoked wings were tasty and good meat. She really enjoyed them.I had the 1/2 pound Kansas City Brisket. It was tender with nice trim of fat. Nice sauce. We didnt go for the sweets. Overall a nice experience

Parking was bad & service was worse. Only go if you want to drink & be left alone.
Comes with a large helping of being looked down on.

This place hates hats. I walked in to meet friends and was told I had to remove mine to stay inside. Fine, I decided to wait outside instead. When I came back in just to ask if I could order a drink to take outside, the staff cut me off, assumed I was asking for a hat exception, which I never did, and yelled at me to leave. What started as a polite request turned into unecessary hostility, hence the 1 star.

Edit: The owner's response below reinforces my point. My issue was not the hat policy. I even said 'rules are rules, your place, your rules' and I was ready to comply. It's such an unusual rule that I honestly thought the sign was just part of the decor, not an actual policy. The real problem was how I was treated. Instead of listening to my simple request to order a drink while waiting outside, he assumed I wanted an exception and responded with hostility. My experience and his reply here shows the same lack of listening and reading (ironically, what he accused me of) that made the experience so poor. Needless to say, I won't be returning.

The best steak in Richmond hands down. Cast-iron cooked with Flava to satisfy even the most discriminating carnivore. Best manhattans, old fashioneds, and anything else you need cocktail wise. Mac is the world's best server and bartender and world class whisky afficianado and his staff rocks too. A true Richmond gem on every level.

No hats allowed...not even for Purple Heart Veteran. 😞 I would have liked to keep my head gear on due to injury reasons. It's fine God bless

Walked in, sat down ordered a drink. Told to take off my hat. Went next door to The Nest where I can wear my hat and invest into an accepting business.

We were asked to remove our hats so we walked next door to the nest where you are allowed to wear whatever attire you choose.👍

This place is amazing! They have such a wide variety of options. If you’re a vegetarian, vegan, or just prefer something that isn’t meat, this place is for you. The sauces are awesome - I recommend the Asian BBQ. The Nashville hot tofu sandwich was truly one of the best sandwiches I’ve had. The service was great too. Can’t wait to come back!

Across the board this place is an 11. It’s 1 louder than any other place around.
You are not going to find a better whiskey bar anywhere else. Talking to the owner is like reading an encyclopedia on the history, chemistry, and spirituality of American spirits.

We were in awe of the selection and quality of everything. The menu is wonderful. The smoked duck breast was delicious and the brisket was perfect. Throw in the kale and grits as sides
..stupid good.

The atmosphere is remarkable. Not one tv, the music is selected as if to pair with the food and drink.

This is exactly what you’d imagine if you wanted to sit down at a true whiskey bar.

We’re gonna be back a lot.

Two times in a row we tried to do business here and both times got sent away because they were understaffed. Both times we got there when they opened at noon. This 2nd time we sat for over 10 minutes just to hear they are not serving lunch because of an evening reservation. No signs on the door, no heads up as you walk by a worker, nothing. If you're coming here, make sure to call ahead and see if anyone is actually working but I would recommend going somewhere that appreciates your business.

Was a cool place, Fan location is better. For a place that struggles with customers a hat is a red line for them. No service. A weird standard for a place that allows tank tops, sandals, shorts. & t shirts. Felt unwelcomed. Good luck

My daughter had researched and planned a special dinner for her dad’s Birthday. She chose this restaurant because we are all bourbon drinkers and were looking forward to trying a fun new place. Reservations are not allowed and the owner flat out would not accommodate our party of six. He just repeated the word “no” as we suggested we pull up a chair to a five top, sit at the large outdoor tables, or put two tables together? It became awkward and embarrassing as we were given no other choice but to leave. I spent six years serving in several restaurants and I was simply astounded at the owner’s bad manners. What a loss for all of us that evening.

Not sure how this place stays in business. The owner is more interested in preserving the museum atmosphere than serving customers. Our party of six was denied service, ostensibly because the owner could not create room for us in the mostly empty room. It probably had more to do with our casual attire, I suspect. We took our several hundred dollars in business elsewhere, and we won't be back. Neither will anyone I have a chance to tell about this overstuffed whisky bar.
