Very pleasant dinner with family. I got there early, and the bartender quickly engaged me in conversation and a drinks interview. Good spirits selection, small but well-chosen taps. Meal was VERY good, a schnitzel with great toppings. My nephew is vegan, and they came up with a cabbage and farro off-menu dish that was quite tasty. Not cheap, but value for the money.

The food was decent, but the portion size and quality didn’t justify the high price. The atmosphere was average, but since we didn’t order any drinks, the service felt rushed and unwelcoming. The most disappointing part of the experience was discovering that someone had increased the tip amount on our bill. I originally tipped 20%, but was charged over 40%. When I reached out to the restaurant to address the issue, they refused to help, so I had to dispute the charge with my credit card company. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this restaurant.

Small Portions and over priced. I would never go here again. I spent lots of money and left hungry. I've had a lot of great meals in Richmond and this one is by far the worst.

This place is amazing! Loved the happy hour drinks and food. It’s so nice how this place is nestled on the corner of the neighborhood. Our bartender Faith made the best drinks and kept the atmosphere great the whole time. Highly recommended this restaurant if you’re looking to freshen your palette.

Will we be returning? Absolutely.
My steak was an actual spiritual experience. I blacked out somewhere between the first bite and my wife recanting her exciting day. No regrets.

It was great for my large group of 12 coworkers. We sat in the semi private dining room. Everyone loved their dishes and the service was excellent! The simple but diverse menu made this a win for my work dinner.

We had an amazing dinner at Metzger - we had charred cabagge which was very delicious!
The pork schnitzel has great flavours, caviar on top of the pork schnitzel...🤤

Wow, great classic German food with a twist. The schnitzel was fried to perfection while the caviar, red cabbage and mustard sauce added a creative blend of new flavors. The charred cabbage was another great dish. Highly recommend!

Food was great, drinks were amazing, 10/10 experience all around. Special shout out to Nate at the bar, really knows his stuff and knocked it out of the park.

Everything from the food, the service, the drinks, to the atmosphere, I was blown away. Our bartender, Nate, was very friendly and went out of his way to make sure we had a great experience. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Absolutely loved brunch! Small and cozy vibe with a nice atmosphere. German influenced brunch menu. Everything was fantastic and the Bloody Mary was in my top 3 of all-time faves. Will definitely be back!

DESERVES A ZERO. IN EVERYWAY. STAFF ALSO SWEARING AND TALKING NEGATIVELY ABOUT CUSTOMERS CLOTHING.

The good: tasty bites of food. Great mix of textures and flavors on the plate. A bit salty.

The average: hospitality. We waited probably 5 minutes standing awkwardly in the middle of a small restaurant on a busy night before we were acknowledged or greeted (and we had a reservation). Service was pretty good. Things came out timely, plates cleared, and we were constantly checked in on which was great. It didn’t feel like a high-level, serious restaurant, though.

The bad: portion size and price. The $30+ pork schnitzel literally has nothing else on the plate - no side of potatoes, German pancakes, fries, spatzl, veggies, nothing. Just a fried piece of pork with some diced olives on top and sauce underneath.

The ugly: this place lacks heart, soul, character, or theme. I saw “butchery” on the title name and expected some serious meat cuts or some non-ordinary type of animal on the menu that screamed “butchery”. This place didn’t reflect the idea of a butchery at all. Ex: the duck dish was shredded duck braised in sauce with beans. Tasty for sure but that’s not “butchery”. I would expect a nice seared duck breast or a rabbit sausage or some other interesting cut of meat you don’t see around normally. Just about all restaurants serve meat, what makes this a butchery? I don’t get it.

The atmosphere and experience didn’t have an identifiable character and didn’t feel very sophisticated or professional. There were a couple pieces of modern art on the wall in an otherwise boring, whitewashed, renovated corner place in church hill with random house music in the background. There was hardly any decor or detailed design - no identifiable theme or vibe. The atmosphere was not warm, not special, dimly lit, not “butchery”, etc. Just sort of basic and a-characteristic.

In the end, I will remember some very tasty bites of food and balanced yet wanting dishes with a variety of textures in a forgettable environment. For the price and buzz about this place: it gave flavor bombs but was lacking character, maturity, and portion. There are other places around, especially for the price, that I would rather spend an evening for an overall restaurant experience.

Always love coming here. The house smoked oysters were out-of-this-frick’n world! The day is always better stating with brunch here.

The food tasted fine but it was very over-priced for the portion and quality. The atmosphere was ok but because we didn’t order drinks it felt rushed and like we weren’t wanted. The worst part of the experience was someone added more tip to our bill. I tipped 20% but was charged over 40% because someone added extra. I contacted the restaurant to resolve and they refused so I had to handle it with my credit card company. I do not recommend.
