This was my absolute favorite restaurant in the area. The chickpea salad sandwich was SO good... I really hope they haven't closed permanently!

Note this is in the Charlies ' kitchen restaurant. We came for the vegan food but went for the other (Charlies') menu. It was great, next time I will try the vegan menu too.

This food was unbelievable! I got the crab cakes wrap and my boyfriend grabbed the chicken wrap and we were both soooo happy with our meals and al the flavors! They service was great and they gave us some plantain cake to try which was also so delicious and full of flavor. We came in hungry and left feeling elated with just how hearty and satisfying that meal was! Spoke with the owner for a while and he was so kind! It is amazing to see someone so well informed and considerate about veganism as well. Will be back for more in the near future! đŸ€—

NYC Vegan – A Plant-Powered Force Awakens in Richmond đŸŒ±âšĄ

Hidden in plain sight—like a Jedi in exile—NYC Vegan quietly operates from inside Charles’ Kitchen, but don’t let the signage fool you. On my second pass, the Force guided my eyes to the NYC Vegan logo in the window
and into a most flavorful experience I ventured.

đŸ”„ Vegan Chicken Wrap (Soy-Based)
Packed with seasoned soy chicken strips, quinoa, fresh veggies, and a dressing (several dressing choices you may choose from) that could bring balance to any meal. The whole wheat wrap held it together like a masterfully wielded lightsaber, and the seasoned fries? Crispy little sidekicks worthy of their own spin-off series.

🩀 Vegan Crab Cakes
These golden patties were a textural triumph—crispy on the outside, tender inside, and loaded with flavor that had me questioning if the ocean had been involved (spoiler: it wasn’t). Drizzled with a tangy dressing and served on a bed of greens, they were worthy of knighthood in the Vegan Order.

đŸ’« The Vibe, Variety & Value
The staff? Exceptionally friendly. The pricing? Incredibly fair—every dish is under $15, and portioned like a meal from the Jedi Temple cafeteria (but way tastier).

And here’s the best part:
Traveling with a mixed crew? Someone in your party craving something different? Fear not—Charles’ Kitchen’s full Caribbean cuisine menu is also available, offering options from both galaxies of flavor.

⭐ Verdict:
Whether you're a Padawan of the plant-based path or a seasoned herbivore Master, NYC Vegan/Charles' Kitchen is worth the detour. Flavors strong with this one, they are.

I found this gem while in town for a training. I had the crab cake wrap and hand cut sweet potato fries. The food was absolutely amazing. Flavorful and fresh ingredients. It was made to order so there was a little wait but nothing crazy. It was so worth the weight. Definitely a must if you are in the area.

I was visiting the area for a basketball tournament and googled vegan restaurants and NYC Vegan came up with great reviews. I decided to give it a try. I have been vegan for 22 years and every place I travel, I always try a new vegan restaurant. This is a gem that everyone needs to visit. My falafel wrap was so delicious with a side of sweet potato fries. I will be going back before I leave the city of Richmond.

Let me tell you .. this place is a HIDDEN GEM đŸ€©. I’m obsessed and I’ve only been once. First, I was exhausted when I got here and barely spoke, the owner was in the back and immediately greeted me and was so warm and friendly.

The gal at the register answered all of my questions and even went to the back when I asked about ingredients in the vegan crab cake wrap. She was patient and so sweet. She even said bye to me and wished me well as she clocked out while I waited for my food (I came real late y’all).

I got the crab cake wrap with coconut beans and sweet potato fries and I’m still thinking about it to this day. The food was not greasy, the coconut rice and beans add a sweet flavor to my crab cake wrap and Aldo the crab cake tasted like crab cake and the fries .. 😼‍💹 . I can’t wait to try everything on their menu. I couldn’t finish the wrap and warmed it up the next day and it was still 10/10.

Also, I eat very clean so my gut is extremely sensitive so when I say their food is not greasy and light to the stomach .. IT IS!

We stopped in here late on a Friday night for a quick bite. We were warmly welcomed and the service was so friendly. The food was fresh and delicious. Seasoned fries were so good as well as the ChickUn sandwich and the chocolate cheezecake. Everything was so clean as well. We look forward to eating here again in the future when we are in the area.

10/10!!! Located in a shared space with Charles Caribbean, amazing menu options and fantastic flavors that dance on your palate! Loved the vegan crab po boy and jackfruit wrap. Fries were seasoned to perfection and came out fresh and hot. The sauces are all homemade and phenomenal. Kai even brought us samples of the chickpea salad which embodied Mediterranean flavors well and tasted great. Every bite was a treat. Highly recommend to anyone and great representation for plant-powered food options!

Insanely good food!!! I got a vegan chicken sandwich which was like a beer battered tofu, and my wife got a jackfruit po boy. She's from NOLA and she loved it. Will definitely be back, even if it's kind of out of our way. The food was delicious and the vegan cheesecake was otherworldly. Note: NYC Vegan is currently operating inside of Charles' Kitchen. If you gps to the shopping center, you won't see a sign for NYC Vegan; just look for Charles' Kitchen. Either way, great visit with amazing hospitality, where the owners checked on customers, and I can't wait to eat here again. Check it out!!!

Came here looking for a local place in Henrico VA for vegan food. Got the chicken wrap and seasoned fries and it tasted amazing and portions are generous to fill you up well. Definitely check this place out it’s well worth it over other vegan options in the area
