I went to pick up a birthday cake order, stood in line and was completely overlooked. The cashier got out from behind the desk to let someone else know they had a cake ready and didn’t even think to let me know they would be with me shorty. It was absolutely rude and disgustingly unprofessional as this was my first time ordering. Not only that my order was wrong and I sent in a picture and was told I’d receive a partial refund but they basically lied and never sent the refund, so I paid for a birthday cake I didn’t even ask for meantime the manager or someone else was sitting behind the desk not doing anything about it. There was no follow up at all after I sent an email. Better service can be elsewhere just not here. I’ve never experienced something like this before and won’t be going back.

Pearl's Bake Shoppe has a solid reputation, but they didn't make a solid cake for my mom's 85th birthday party. The decorated cake was beautiful and met all of our expectations. The artist definitely knew how to decorate a cake. Yet, when we proceeded to serve the cake, it crumbled. It was soggy in some spots and very difficult to serve neatly on a plate. It wasn't as sweet as we expected it to be. So disappointed and embarrassed.

We had Pearl's cater the wedding cakes for our wedding and I can't say enough good things! Emily, the catering manager, was so nice to work with. We initially had a small mix-up with our cake tasting regarding vegan and gluten-free options, but Emily handled it beautifully and made everything right. On our wedding day, the cake was a huge hit! We ended up cutting the guests' cake slices, and everyone loved coming up to see them and savor the delicious flavors we chose. It was such a special experience, especially since we've been eating their cakes for years. Definitely recommend them for wedding cakes, especially for guests with dietary restrictions or allergies. Their vegan & gluten free selections can't be beat!

I preordered a custom cake and the communication was good. Sunday when I arrived to pick up the cake, the cashier had a very flat affect, she sat the cake down and immediately began to give me instructions on how to handle the cake without ever asking me was everything in order with the cake. It was not. I let her know it was missing an exclamation mark. She took the cake to the back and I began to look at the candles on display while I waited. When I turned around she had returned and the cake decorator was standing behind her visibly irritated and rolled her eyes as she walked away. My first thought, it was literally one minor detail. Secondly, I paid almost $200 for a personalized cake, you aren’t doing me a favor by providing the service I paid for.
If that wasn’t bad enough, when the cashier began to close the box up I noticed it had ink smudges covering a corner of it. She looked at me and said “oh it’s from my hand” I asked her to replace the box and she starting huffing and puffing. So let me understand, you have ink on your hands and it transfers to my cake box and you’re irritated that I’m asking to replace the box.
When she came back I noted that there was no label on the box, I asked her if she could print out an ingredients label. She asked if someone had food allergies. To which, I explained that the venue where I am hosting my event requires a clearly labeled cake for liability reasons. She walked away and came back and said No I can’t give you a label.
I can’t believe a professional licensed bakery could not provide an ingredients label!
I further explained that it didn’t have to be a specific recipe since I know some things are proprietary. I’m not asking for your secret recipe, I just need to be compliant. She left again to ask a young lady who was sitting in an office behind the register whom I could clearly see. I saw her irritation and body language. I waited for a few minutes and that person walked up to the register with a printed sheet of plain paper with five boxes seemingly from a excel spreadsheet that said in short eggs, butter, flour and sugar. She damn near threw the paper at me the way she handed it to me with aggressiveness. I said thank you, she didn’t respond. She just walked away.
The cake: very mediocre. Overly sweet, thick and dry.
Pearls. I am disappointed. My customer service experience was 0 stars and the 2 stars is for the cake itself.
I have sent so many customers your way in my years of patronizing this establishment. Your workers are uncaring and unprofessional and don’t represent the Pearls I use to love!

They were amazing from my first inquiry for the custom cake. Once I went in the store for the tasting I knew I found a true gem. Emily and her team made sure all the small details I wanted were in place. My mother in law picked the order up the day before my wedding and raved about them. Thank you so much. I spoke to two other cake shops before deciding to use Pearl's Bake Shoppe. I worked with Emily Pilk on the design and she was great! I wanted a cake for my daughter's bridal shower and she is vegan. I know vegan cakes can be hit or miss and Pearl's knocked it out of the park with this one! It tasted incredible and no one would have known it was a vegan cake if I hadn't told them. I got so many compliments over how it tasted and how beautiful it was. I don't think I've ever seen a cake as pretty as this one! I did a lemon cake with lemon buttercream and raspberry filling. They truly knocked it out of the park! I highly recommend using Pearl's for a custom cake.
