Told the waitress I had celiac disease and asked if the sweet and sour chicken was gluten free, she said they had a dedicated fryer and that it was fried using cornstarch and everything would be handled separately. Lo and behold I was severely contaminated which causes long term damage to my intestines. I thought this was a nice restaurant that could be trusted, but I would never trust them with a dietary restriction of any kind.

I’ve always had good experiences at Peter Chang till tonight. Not sure what happened, the golden chicken is supposed to be a speciality, I’ve gotten it plenty of times always solid, till today.
Not sure if it’s new folks in the kitchen or what but tonight’s meal was a huge miss! I the chicken is usually sweet, lightly battered and I can taste the chicken.
Tonight the chicken was way, way, way over cooked to like a jerky like consistency, hard to chew. And instead of sweet it was really sour, like actually sour, sour enough that we couldn’t stomach the entree. I did pickup 5 minutes late so I can’t complain about the sogginess of the coating, but I remember being able to make out the taste of chicken last time we ordered it. Not sure if they are cutting back but geez neither of us could make out chicken. Fried rice had no actual flavor, I remember a time when we would only get fried rice from here, this is sad. My bf joked he would have preferred the local greasy Chinese take out joint. The Kung pow shrimp was so so, nothing to write home about, and not what I’ve come to expect from Peter changs. For close to $70 for two, I don’t think I’ll be back any time soon.

I ordered General Tso’s takeout for Lunar New Year and was very disappointed. The flavor was off, the chicken was overcooked and poorly sauced, and the rice was dry and bland. It was not worth the price. I would not return or recommend this restaurant. I have had better at Panda Express.
The food lacks seasoning, especially the fried rice.
The lunch special is a deal for 12ish dollars- lots of options and a lot of food for the price. Wonton soup was the best thing we had out of everything.
Service was attentive.

This restaurant has gone downhill significantly. The food, the staff and the cleanliness all poor. What happened....
Great Chinese food... Try to visit whenever we are passing by the area... The Bamboo Fish is to die for... They serve great noodles, fried rice and a variety of chicken dishes too... Personally like the Kung Pao Chicken... Very quick and efficient service is a characteristic too!

I find it hard to find any spicy dish at restaurants that are actually spicy, there was no such problem here. The food was absolutely incredible, would absolutely come here again, I would give this more stars if I could!

Great place to go on a date night. The staff is always attentive and accommodating even when it gets busy. If I am ever around Scott's Addition with friends I like to stop by the bar to get drinks and their steamed pork dumplings. I highly recommend this place for all occasions.

This has become one of my go-to spots in Scott’s Addition. The food is just unbeatable. Every dish feels fresh, flavorful, and full of personality. The dry-fried eggplant is addictive and always a must!! The hot and numbing beef has the perfect balance of heat and flavor.
The staff are kind and efficient, even when the place is packed, and the kitchen never misses. You can tell everything is made with care. It’s the kind of restaurant you bring friends to when you want to impress them or grab takeout when you need something comforting.
It’s hard to find food this consistently good, and somehow it gets better every time I go. Richmond’s got plenty of great eats, but Peter Chang’s will always be in my top favorites. I travel from Midlothian just to get Changs because it’s that solid

Food isn't bad, but the Fredericksburg location was so much better. Too bad Fredericksburg closed

Got the beef chow fun and kung pao tofu. It was pretty bland. The dishes were fine, just not worth it.
