Immediate seating and fast service; street parking available but watch the signs for duration. Food was flavorful, good selection of drinks, very pleased the bartender stopped by the table to confirm types of liquor when making an off-menu drink. The menu does have vegan/vegetarian options but is more limited in selection than some others nearby. Will definitely visit again.

Vegetarian options: Vegan and vegetarian options available

We for a work meeting and I had the hot honey chicken sandwich. I thought it would be “spicy “ hot but it was just hot in temperature lol. Luckily they had hot sauce. A friend ordered it too. It was very yummy! They do add a lot of honey so if you don’t like sticky fingers remember to ask for light on the honey! Overall pretty good sandwich and the fries were good too!! I loved their ginger drink ?! Great upstairs patio and vibes

We took a nice stroll to this unique little restaurant while at an event at the Altria. This restaurant is located in a cozy little spot and assist in the character of the area. We took a seat at the bar as we usually do to soak it all in. I have read this restaurant is known for a great roof top dining experience, but we cannot confirm as we did not see it. We came at that challenging time when shift changes are happening and they were not staffed properly for the event, causing the bartender to be a bit panicked. He maintained his composure well, but was a little less available which is understandable given the circumstance. The restaurant is neatly decorated and posses a great sense of character and offers a very relaxed vibe. The menu is not vast by any means, but the food offerings were diverse enough for just about anyone. Service began slow, however picked up as more staff came in and were caught up. The food was good, not spectacular, but we left full. They have a full bar for cocktails and offer a small assortment of local craft beer. Everyone was pleasant, except for the bar back in the Captain America shirt - who if you see, don’t ask him for anything. He seems to really hate people, as to be expected from a middle aged, out of shape man wearing a comic book shirt. However the bartenders more than made up for it as they were extremely out going. They apologized for the chaos and introduced themselves and took the time to get to know you, which is a lost art in the service industry. All in all, we would definitely come back if we were in the area.

3rd time back and was awesome. Left the national in search of food and pulled up to city dogs and the closed the kitchen hella early. Called in Postbellum and dude on the phone said let me know what food you want and I'll ring it in while you walk over ❤️ Drinks were good, smoked wings are better than kreggars, truffle fries looked and tasted amazing. Bartender was cordial and had a wonderful conversation with everybody at the bar.

Went to Postbellum with our daughter (VCU student) for a late lunch. The Beer Burger was very good. I ended up eating it with a fork and knife ; ). My husband had the shrimp and polenta (more like grits); he said it was good. Our daughter had the Chicken Biscuit; it was very good. I think they have outdoor seating, but it was a little too warm.

This. Place. Here. O.M.G...... I don't remember what the name of my salad was but it's the one with Watermelon. It's probably seasonal but if you get a chance please try it. There's a burst of flavor in every bite.We also had the wings, (Super yummy) fries ( they are very tiny and if cooked too long they're no good.) The vibes are really chill as we sat on the rooftop at the bar. The sauces are all home-made as well. It's a nice place to have a nice meal. ☺️

Picked this place because I wanted to sit outside and the rooftop seemed like a nice spot. It was early Sunday evening, so not busy at all. We were seated right away though we arrived early for our reservation. We were sat at a high table and bar stools, but since we had a toddler with us we asked to sit at a regular table and away from the smoking at the bar. We were able to move tables so no big deal. After a few minutes, our server took our orders but notified us right afterwards that their shift was ending and needed to ring us up. Thought it was strange but we took the bill and paid all before even getting any food. We were told another server would be around to assist us. Some other servers brought us our food, which was pretty good. Got a couple chicken sandwiches and a burger. They were tasty. Issue was the service was so minimal. We basically had one person take our order, some other bring the food and that’s it. Wasn’t sure what or who I was tipping. No one checked on us or asked if we wanted a refill after we got our food. I’d say I can’t recommend this place honestly. Maybe just an off day but really missed the mark

This is literally my favorite place in all of Richmond. The staff is wildly top knotch. Great music, delicious food. Great service. Upstairs patio bar.... start a tab downstairs, and keep it going upstairs on the rooftop patio. Streamline goodtimes. Definitely check this place out.

Did not enjoy this experience. One of the drinks was good, the other was not. The womens bathroom was gross and when I told the person that worked there, they seemed to know and hadn’t done anything about it. The staff was nice at the end but they were very slow to get anything for us. The rooftop was a nice aesthetic and I would probably return for that, just not the food or service. You have to make a reservation before going there. They have gluten free options on the menu, too!

Our party of five visited Postbellum for brunch on a recent Saturday. This was my third visit to the restaurant. The first time was two years ago, the second time was in November 2021, and the third time was a few days ago. I was there twice in the daytime and once in the evening, and each time the service was prompt and attentive, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was comfortable. Although there were more people during my evening visit, and the restaurant was busier and louder, there is plenty of space between tables, so I wasn't bothered by the other diners. For this visit, I made a reservation on Resy because I wasn't sure if Postbellum would be crowded, and it was too cold to wander around looking for a place that wasn't. There were a few people in the restaurant when we arrived, so I didn't need a reservation, but I felt better having one anyway. Our hostess and server were courteous, and we were taken care of right away. We ordered off the brunch menu and had a chicken sandwich, salad, a side order of truffle honey frites, steak and eggs, salad and blueberry pancakes with lemon whipped ricotta. Our drinks were ginger ale, coffee and water. The total was $113 and I added a 20% percent tip. Everyone enjoyed their food, and the person who ordered the steak said it was really tender and thick. I had the blueberry pancakes, which were flavorful and filled with fruit. I took a to-go box, and the pancakes were good heated up the next day. Postbellum has a lot to offer - a full bar, rooftop seating, a varied menu - and appeals to locals, tourists, couple and big groups. The atmosphere is cozy and casual with plenty of space. I also like the name of the restaurant - Postbellum, which means the period after a war, especially the Civil War, gives a nod to Richmond's historic past and rich history.
