Fresh out of the oven, it's probably my favorite pizza in town. The different topping combinations are interesting and not your average pizza toppings. It's also priced well for the quality and I appreciate that they have their own parking and it's a quick meal.
We were really looking forward to trying this place, but it turned into more of a “lesson learned” kind of meal. The service felt extremely inefficient , even though the place wasn’t exactly slammed. The woman at the counter waited for one customer's carry out pizza to be finished, doing absolutely nothing in the meantime, while our food was perfectly ready on the oven waiting to be handed to us. It took way too long to get our to-go order, and when we finally opened it up, the disappointment kept coming.
The pizza? Dry as a desert, floppy, and barely big enough to qualify as a personal size — definitely not worth the price tag. I’ve seen tortillas bigger than this pizza. And the zucchini fries? We counted and were dumbfounded. Nine. Nine sad little fries in the whole container. For something that's supposed to be a side, it felt more like a sample.
Two stars because the pizza had a authentic wood-like flavor from the oven and we got the right order. But honestly, with food this underwhelming, we won’t be back. Unless you enjoy expensive disappointment with a side of veggie crumbs, maybe skip this one. There are better spots that give you what you pay for.
I will start with the positive: the pizza dough is really delicious and perfectly chewy. However, the “bruschetta“ was two pieces of sandwich bread cut in half (not even toasted!!!) with some salted cherry tomatoes sliced in half on top. If any Italian came in and got that after ordering bruschetta, they would die on the spot. I shared the pesto pizza, which was also not great (besides the dough). It seemed like they completely forgot to put basil or an herb of any kind in the pesto, and the toppings were overall somewhat bitter?? Quite disappointed by our experience overall, but I hope they can address these issues easily!!
This is some of the best pizza period! Also, their mozzarella balls are utterly amazing!
I’m sure it’s a local treasure however . I loved one pizza and hated the other . The margherita was amazing. The Caivano was inedible , the meats made it soggy and super salty . Also the atmosphere , felt like a well decorated Domino’s.
Love the neopolitan style pizzas. Always fresh ingredients and the staff is super nice
Delicious food. One pizza per person feels appropriate but for the eaters, consider also getting an appetizer. Yummy crust!
Ima be honest I'm not the type of guy to even leave negative food reviews any if the food is bad but I feel the need to expression a few things I felt after receiving my order. First id like to start by saying $18 for a personal sized pizza really made me feel some type of way but I was honestly going to let it go. It's when I opened the $10 for 10 extremely small mozzarella balls that I was like what's going on over there. The pizza tasted extremely bland and burnt and the mozzarella balls were barley fried. I'm honestly grieved to be leaving this review because I'm not a negative person but that just felt like a complete rip off to me. Maybe it was simply a bad experience but I can imagine myself ordering from here again just because nothing about it was good.
While the food here is delicious, the service is absolutely excellent. The staff genuinely care for all the guests. I've never felt more welcome in a restaurant.
I recommend coming here 10x over.

Interesting pizza shop. Ordered quattro formagio pizza which was very good. Also had a good appetizer. Risotto ball with cheese and chorizo. They do have beer and wine. Order at counter and they bring food over to you. Service was fast and efficient. They do have a parking lot.

The pizza here is fantastic, it's a Napoli style thin crust, easily the best in Richmond. Everything I've had has been good, but I'd recommend the onion tart for something a little different.

We ordered two white pizzas, they were very soggy and not good.
Worst, the salad greens were totally rotten. Will not order again.

Love it, wish they had more specials on multiple pizza purchase, but I cant get enough. Kind hearted people, with courteous/ care for what they do.
Edit: This review is a years after above review. I recently visited this location because my other recent visits the pizza didn’t taste not was the crust the same, but I love them and wanted to try again. Again I got different pepperoni vs the cup I use to get and the crust was soft and had many burned spots. $21.90 for one personal/medium size pizza that isn’t up to the expectation set for years when they were $10 is not worth it. Sorry Good people but the pizza is not even a 7 anymore.

We discovered Pupatella 8 years ago and it remains our FAVORITE Napoli style pizza in Virginia. We've visited at least 5 locations. Always THE BEST quality and flavor. We never leave without getting an extra pizza for the road. When heated according to directions, it's delicious!! You can't go wrong with anything on the menu.
