My jerk chicken was dry......only got 4 oxtails in large order...they were bulky with little meat on it š£...spent 50 something dollars and best thing was the brown stew chicken and the lemonade..disappointed...looks like quality of the food went down and ive been coming here for years..sadly š®āšØbe a while before I go back ........
I love everything about this place

The curry chicken was heaven and so was the cabbage. The oxtails couldāve been cooked a little bit longer because they were a little tough and the beans and rice was a little sweet.

I have been going to this restaurant for quite some time now. However, I am taking the time to write a fair and honest review. The food is good but not consistent. The attitudes are far less desirable. They had an older woman working behind the counter (she's no longer there now), who had the worse attitude ever. They now have a woman with long dreads, she bags your food at the counter who replaced her with the bad attitude! She always acts like you are bothering her and she does not want to service patrons. Her attitude is horrible!! I blame myself for continuing to frequent a place with poor customer service. The lines are long, the food is not consistent, and they accept your telephone order, only to be told that they DO NOT accept telephone orders when you arrive at the restaurant!!! What a waste of time, especially if you are still on the clock at work. They act this way because they are located in the hood and therefore treat people accordingly...although this is NOT a good practice. They would never thrive and survive in Short Pump, Midlothian or Chesterfield, therefore, they need to stay in Southside Plaza where they can get away with this foolishness! Employees need to remember that the customers they are being rude to, are the VERY SAME people that put money in their pockets and food on their tables! Without customers, their business WOULD NOT EXIST! If you want decent priced food, with GREAT customer service, please visit Caribbean Kitchen in Petersburg. You will not be disappointed! Carena's also has good food, a pleasant atmosphere & great AND CONSISTENT customer service!! I will no longer be going back to this place. I will spend my hard earned money elsewhere! As a New Yorker and being raised in the Caribbean culture from my family, I ask you to NOT let staff in this restaurant play in your face. They would not get away with this in NYC or other places in this area, so DO NOT give them a pass in VA! Hold them ACCOUNTABLE for their actions by calling them out and patronizing other restaurants!!! Remember, they need your hard earned coins to thrive...they are not giving you food for free!!
The Best!!

I just called up here to leave a review and here i am writing one. That alone should let you know where iām about to go with this š„
First off, I ordered thru Uber Eats and when I arrived my food was hot, fresh, and ready. Next i walked around and saw they had a mini store with great jamaican foods/drinks, a great selection of ice cream, and most of all 4+ flavors of DG Ginger Beer.
I picked up Pineapple Ginger and The OG Ginger Beerā¦.Then I saw they had Cream Sodaā¦. An executive decision had to be made so I asked Kay (very helpful and kind) and she recc i pick Pineapple and Cream soda. [Side note: I picked up 2 rooms temp sodas and she took them and said ālet me get you some cold onesāā¦Customer service 10/10 š„]
I took her expert advice and not only did they pair well with my jerk chicken, rice and gravy, plantains, cabbage, and beef patty but they made me feel like i was in Jamaica (i havenāt been, yet).
Fast forward a few hours later, the portion size is enough to feed 2 people so iām sitting here eating it cold (since my hotel gave me a mini fridge but no microwave š ) and the food is still great, lowkey even better lol
I ordered rum cake but they were out so she subbed it for Chocolate cake. Iām not one to turn down cake in general so i tried it and it was moist and rich like grandmas cake on easter Sunday. Did i mention it was homemade?!
I stopped mid bite and had to call up there to ask for Kay just to show her and the team some love!
If youāre in richmond, and you want a taste of authentic jamaican food, i recc you visit Queens Jamaican Restaurant immediately!!
Ask for Kay, sheāll take care of you!
PS: I would have taken pics but I couldnāt wait to eat and Iām going back again before I leave richmond šÆ
