It's been 12 years since we last ate here. Going back was a test to see if our memory was still accurate. The decor hasn't changed and why should it. Lulu went with the French Toast (excellent) and I had a Cheese Steak Sandwich with Onion Rings (excellent). The music was perfect for the setting and not to loud. The waiter was friendly and the place was clean. Plenty of parking. Hope it's not another 12 years before we return.
I had and recommend the crab cake and eggs. Plenty of both and with grits, it made a wonderful meal. The service was excellent, the restaurant clean and furnishings looked clean, warm and welcoming. Haven't been to this restaurant in at least 15 years so going on memory, I'd say they lost nothing and that's not always easy. This makes a good stop for breakfast anytime.
It was a beautiful day and we were on the south-side at noon. We sat outside to enjoy the weather and both of us chose items off of the breakfast menu. It was our first time to eat at the River City Diner and our food was very good. Their menu had numerous other items that looked great and we plan to return to try some of them. The service prompt and very good. Thank you River City Diner for one of the most enjoyable meals we have had for some time.
