This was my 1st time coming here & I will NEVER be back again. My husband, myself and a friend our ours and we were racially profiled. We were asked to check our bowling bags while others entered with no checks at all. I ordered a arnold palmer drink ( sweet tea/lemonade mixed) it did not have lid as it was served to me this way and as I walk out the bouncer said I had to leave my drink. As I explained what it was I was told that, "Tea doesn't look like that." Overall it left a bad taste in my mouth and we will not be back. If your black be careful here

I had a great time at River City Roll! I was able to easily make a reservation online. When we arrived the staff was friendly and helpful. I loved the basket with our shoes and the whole check-in process was super easy. This was my first time playing Hyperbowl and it was super fun! What a cool twist on bowling. I was having so much fun and the staff was able to fit in an extra 30 minutes for us to finish out game. The food was served in a timely manner and it was very yummy. If you're looking to bowl in RVA this is the place to go!

Awful acoustics, super loud. You'll get drunk before you get to bowl with typical 3 hour wait.Staff is great

"...Too Darn Loud"Fantastic food. Beautiful bowling lanes. But the computer running the games talk a lot of trash through its post-roll prompts, to the point that it feels like it's almost bullying casual bowlers for not being professionally skilled. And, worst of all, the noise level is nothing short of insane. It feels like management has some neurotic fear of quiet. Every single night I've been, the sound has been so loud as to nearly completely drown out personal conversation. You have to shout to be heard by your friends, and maintaining a train of thought is super difficult. There is a large stage with a large space in front of it. My impression is that management must feel like the venue is somehow failing if that space is not packed with people and blaring the sound of events all-night and almost every night. But the experience of the live music and whatever marathon line-dancing seems to be a regular Tuesday night occurrence is torturous to friends trying to get together and socialize or enjoy bowling.I got so annoyed last night with the continuous music and line dancing instructions being blasted out at full volume that I tried to flee to a private room, which was prohibited. Then we took refuge at the outdoor patio while waiting for our lane. Then our lane turned out to be right next to the stage and dance area. The experience felt very much like a nightmare. It was all I could do not to let my friends see just how much everything was distressing me so I didn't completely ruin the night. When I got home, I was so stressed out, I barely spoke to my partner except to vent, and had to sequester myself in my bedroom in silence for about an hour or so to decompress before bed.I asked the staff about the schedule to try to see if and when one could just bowl or hang out in peace. The venue is closed on Mondays. The line dancing runs from 6:45 until 9:30 on Tuesdays. Fridays and Saturdays have super loud live music. Sundays are generally quieter, although I was told there would be some kind of event happening Sunday as well. Which leaves only Wednesday and Thursday nights as social bowling opportunities where one is not working to be heard over the speakers. Ugh. I felt sorry the staff. I felt sorry for the poor guy tasked with calling out cha-cha slide instructions for nearly four hours. And I felt sorry for myself; someone who suffers from misophonia to be sure, but a pretty reasonable one nonetheless experiencing serious sensory torture.Ultimately, River City Roll is not my business so it's really none of my business how they run their business. But if feedback matters at all, folks should know I as a patron spent a lot of my time last night really wishing management would just let River City Roll be a fantastic bowling alley with a impeccable bar & kitchen instead of trying to also shoehorn a very loud performance venue into the place as though the two functions can really coexist. If I were a performer, I would be skeptical of trying to work while bowling pins are being knocked down constantly; which may be part of why everything's so freaking loud.Whatever the case, aside from the food, the awesome Jack & Coke Old Fashioned cocktails, and the beauty of the bowling lanes, last night's experience was a surprisingly intense psychological struggle for me. I'd be lying if I didn't admit it has me super hesitant to return more often if at all; even though I live right behind the building. All human endeavors are works-in-progress. Hopefully the River City Roll experience sees more progress than less; and with any luck sooner than later. Let the Dude abide.

We had a great time at River City Roll! My husband and I wanted to find a place that was group and kid friendly for the day after our wedding. We were able to get 2 lanes next to each other for 2 hours as well as 2 large tables to accommodate a very large party of people that were all coming and going at different times. The staff was attentive and nice. The drinks were really really good! And the food hit the spot. The bowling was fun as well but mostly I enjoyed having space to just hang out. It ended up being a nice day so people were able to enjoy the outdoor space as well. Definitely a good option for a big group.

It was a really fun place to spend an afternoon with my family. Lane and shoe rental is really cheap compared to other places. The facility is really nice and clean and the food was great. The staff was really friendly and very helpful. I would definitely go back again.
