Placed an online order during business hours. unbeknownst to me, they were closed at 7pm on a Sunday. Still awaiting a reply on how to receive a refund. Also, had this sign up saying online orders only.
Update: It took a week to finally get in contact with a manager, but she was helpful and accommodated for their error.

I visited the restaurant yesterday around 7:20 pm ish your employees were sitting outside in a car smoking weed on the phone cursing I tried to dine in and the young lady told me that the inside was closed off for dine ins due to the fact that the store was running low on food and drinks she also stated that the restaurant was closing early for the night I was disappointed because I come dine in at least one a week

I usually don't do reviews, but me and my friend have been on the hunt for a good soul food restaurant and this one she found was not at all what was expected. The restaurant was empty the young lady who waited on us was great. However, the food and prices were so unacceptable! $6 for a sweet tea that you can tell is not homemade and no refills on any drinks! I asked for water and got a $2 bottle of water... we both ordered the honey old bay salmon. They were out of most of the sides which this is the second restaurant we've been to that has been out of sides! The salmon was overcooked, the rice, Mac n cheese and yams were not cooked all the way they were all hard and flavorless! We were not pleased and when expressing our disappointment the owner offered to discount the food because we just did not want to risk trying anything else.. for the discount to only be $5! And we spent $100! We also ordered something to go and the fries were not not cooked all the way! Idk if the have more than one chef but the one that was there was terrible! Never again! Oh! And I wanted to try tge seafood salad which was on the menu for but the don't serve it anymore !

I ordered the Stuffed Catfish with Collard Greens and Broccoli. The Collards were spicy which I liked. The Catfish was Amazing with a Cajun sauce...top shelf!..I will return and bring my friends.

I love supporting black owned businesses but between the prices , taxes , and fees? I will never dine in here again. Don’t get me wrong the food was amazing but to pay $106 for 2 adults and 2 children is insane not to mention the service was super slow , I asked for ketchup and the server brings back an empty bottle of ketchup , and everything I wanted as far as sides they were out of so I had to change my order twice . As black owned businesses we have to do better . I coulda went to Cheesecake Factory for that price … I wanna say the best part of my experience here was the music and the food other then that I’m a little disappointed

I hate to give this type of review but I have to be honest we went Monday 19 Jan 2026 half the items listed on the menu were not available. I finally just asked what they had so I could pick from those items listed ended up getting the black cherry wings with fries the wings were good the fries were not. My husband order the whiting with greens and Mac and cheese the greens look like they were from 2 days ago and someone warned them up the Mac and cheese was dry no cheesy pull nothing it was really bad. I asked for ranch for my wings they didn’t have that. Husband asked for tartar sauce and they didn’t have that. Overall the only things that were ok was the wings and his fish (without tarter) everything else was bad to include our service I had to keep trying to get her attention as she sat by the door playing with her phone. I will not be going back I fact I doubt if they make it through the summer it was empty in there

Im visiting from out of town staying at VCU hospital with family, decided to try this place after seeing them on TikTok. I ordered takeout, when I arrived there was no one in the restaurant so I just knew my food would come hot & tasty! I checked my bag after leaving and noticed the yams I ordered was substituted with mac & then there were only 2 forkfuls of greens. I called the restaurant and the girl kept going quiet over the phone when I was explaining the incorrect order, I returned and asked for the Manager instead. The manger wasn’t there but they did bring me a fresh side of yams and when I asked for more greens they gave me more. The food was OKAY at most, the rice was very salty, greens and yams super sweet. The seafood salad was my favorite but for $12.50 I’m going to need a slightly larger container. I try to give all small owned restaurants grace but we have to do better and take care of paying customers the FIRST time. People who order takeout should get the same level of service & food as those who dine in!

The food was good it came out cold had to send it back, $2 for water is crazy and it's not bottled, appetizer came out at the end.. 😞 over all the green came out in a small portion but it was good server made sure my food was heated up.

Found this hidden gem. The food was amazing. We ate there yesterday and my husband went back today. The only thing I didn't like was that they did not have everything that was on the menu. Both days I ordered the crab stuffed salmon and it was not available. So take it off the menu. Dont tease me.
