I went September 23, 2025. They were very accommodating for our small group last minute birthday notice. The hostess was patient with us. Although they didn’t have a few of the things on the menu that some of us originally wanted, the servings we got more than made up for the differences. If you’re looking for cozy, different and personal environment, along with great food (soul food) this is the spot for you.

Just went here after a VUU game and we were wearing VSU colors. It's pretty sad that in these days in time that it be your own people your trying to support actually be the one's that are being nasty towards you. We walked in and the hostess a nice young lady welcomed us and gave us menus and escorted us to the bar. There were others sitting around eating as well when all of a sudden she walked back over to us and said sorry were not serving food at this time . But there was someone at the bar waiting for their order it seemed pretty strange all of sudden you're not serving 🤔. It's fine we will support another establishment never will we come here again.

I had the stuffed catfish, cabbage, and Macaroni and cheese. Now I don't know if someone was rushing or what that cooked the food but it was awful. The cabbage tasted like pepper, the mac was sweet and all I can taste was milk now the catfish was fried okay and all you can taste was the cream cheese and all I had was 1 shrimp?? I would eat their again but just not that. So to whomever cooking slow down and put your love into it.

First time coming in and had a bad experience with my server and my food the food was half cold and the Mac n cheese was dry the food looked warmed up just didn’t enjoy my experience for spending $100 for dinner for are server to charge 2 dollars for water in a cup not the bottle don’t recommend it’s nice and half way clean in the store but the service was the worse part about my night get new workers🤨

The food was over seasoned ! The greens 🥬 didn’t taste like I thought they would! The Mac and cheese didn’t look like the menu ! The chicken was good but extra salty ! The server was very nice. Tell whoever to hold back on seasoning thanks

Catfish was fried fresh everything else the mac & cheese the sweet potatoes all of that was warmed back up and they’ve done a bad job of warming it up. I should’ve known better not to order when I walked in the place and I didn’t smell any food for it to be a soul food restaurant. I’m from the south New Orleans, Louisiana to be exact. The food taste really good, but it is not fresh the only thing was fresh was the catfish and that had to be fried so that’s why that was fresh but everything else is old is coming out of refrigerator and they’re warming the food up putting in all your stuff you can get food poisoning in that way, so I wouldn’t recommend this place for no one
Me & my daughter went last weekend we were pleasantly surprised at how good the food was, came out hot and fresh. She got the jerk pasta wit steak and our mouths dropped at the portion (very big) I got the fried fish mac n cheese and yams. Our server was amazing very friendly. Will definitely visit again

There isn't really an atmosphere to speak of. It is dim and unappealing and it was freezing in there. The girl taking orders was sweet, but the food was lukewarm at best and I ended up with food poisoning and was sick for two, almost three days. I ordered the stuffed catfish w/ collard greens, mac n cheese and yams. I sent the mac n cheese back, it was the most odd tasting thing I have ever tried. Almost like the cheese used was spoiled! I'm not sure, but it was horrible. The fried coating on the fish was falling off and mushy like a frozen piece of fish had been battered and fried. I could literally lift the skin and pull it back, then lay it back down on the fish like a blanket. The yams were OK. The collard greens were good though.

That food was sooo good!! Literally some of the best food I’ve ever had. I went here after work with my coworker and needless to say I found my new favorite food spot! I got the stuffed catfish and she got the jerk chicken sub. 10/10 for both.
First time going as I was passing through Richmond. But I'll be going back...had the lambchops,mac&cheese with Yams. YEAH!!!!
