Rowlands is fantastic. Had dinner there last night and the food and service were amazing. We started with creative drinks, the four of us tried different versions of an old fashion, and then the appetizers. I had asparagus soup with trout in it. Just amazing. Then the main course. I had the veal and some one in our party had the pork chop. They were so, so good. Can't recommend this restaurant enough.

Cozy, understated, and personal—having the chefs stop by and check in really adds to the experience.

The place is overall odd. It is difficult to call it fine dining. The servers never stopped moving. They were overall kind. We did not hear the specials like other tables.

A ceaser salad upgrade to the meal is 13 dollars.

The oysters were not cut, so you had to pull them off whilst holding them.

The cheddar mac and cheese side was sub-par.

There is also a 6 dollar charge to use a credit card.

We could hear the kitchens entire drama and fighting. It was uncomfortable.

Also each time the door opens to the kitchen, a beam of heavenly light emits.

Really disappointed about a place that has been around for decades.

It was odd.

Food was fine, but not good enough to make up for the awful service. First time there and probably the last.

Fine dining is certainly a stretch for a description of Rowland. My salad dressing was definitely expired. The main courses looked as if they were run over by a delivery truck before arriving to the table. We mentioned the poor quality of one of the dishes to the waiter who disregarded the feedback. Consider other fine dining options in Richmond.

If I could give it a zero I would. Probably the worst meal I’ve ever had. Would highly recommend not wasting your money at this restaurant.

We enjoyed our dinner at Rowland for Richmond Restaurant Week. They only had two staff in the front - a server and bartender. Both seemed to do a great job and really hustled. The restaurant wasn't that crowded so it wasn't too bad. The server did a great job. We tried three different appetizers and the winner was the meatballs with the soup second and the shrimp manicotti coming in second and third. Two of our group had the blackened rockfish with crawfish etouffee which was excellent. Two of us had the flat iron steak and one was great and the second one was a poor cut of meat that the knife couldn't get through. They were great at replacing the inedible steak. Very reasonably priced cocktails which was nice. For dessert the apple dessert was prefered over the bread pudding. It was a nice evening with a lovely restaurant week menu.

Went for October restaurant week. Food looks good, 2 out of the 3 courses were raw and cold. Had high hopes for this place unfortunately it was a huge disappointment. Heads up they also charge a $4 card fee.

The food was amazing, drinks were quite interesting and delicious. The service was lacking. We were a group of 4, only 2 other people in the restaurant. We waited 20 minutes between ordering drinks until receiving 3 of the 4 we ordered. It took another 5 minutes before the last drink arrived. Service from there just got worse. Had to flag down the server to ask for more water. Things I would not expect from a restaurant at this price point, especially when there was practically no one else there. If you have nothing but time to kill and don't mind poor service, the food is great.
