I visited for the first time while barhopping with friends in Richmond and was initially impressed by the friendly bartender who served us. I bought a round for my friends and was enjoying my drink when one of the staff members announced that closing time was approaching and encouraged everyone to finish up. However, I noticed their clock was set five minutes fast, which they even acknowledged.
As I was wrapping up, a staff member abruptly removed the can from my hand, which felt rude and disruptive to our experience. I brought this to the attention of the bartender, who was understanding but explained that they adhere to their clock, despite it being fast. While I can appreciate their adherence to closing time, I found the attitude and the manner in which the can was taken to be quite confrontational and disrespectful. Overall, it detracted from an otherwise enjoyable evening.

Server got us in under the wire right before the kitchen closed. Lovely waitress who was on it the entire night! Fries were crispy, cooked perfectly. Great burger. Always happy to be at Sheppard Street Tavern

The atmosphere is cozy and gives that sense of Richmond living we know from this city. Service is friendly and attentive every single time. And most of all this is some of the best Chicken and Mac I’ve had in this city!
